Port caps on Resmed Ultra Mirage

Post by raneyday » Mon Nov 22, 2004 4:04 pm

I've just started on my CPAP and things aren't going so well. But I've gotten some good ideas from reading these posts, so I'm still in there trying!

One thing that's bothering me is that I only have one port cap for the 2 small ports on either side of the mask. (I'm using the Resmed Ultra mirage full face mask) So air is escaping from the open port and making a lot of noise. I haven't been able to get up with my respiratory therapist to find if there are supposed to be 2 caps. Anybody run into this?

Thanks!

Hi raneyday,

I just now looked at my ResMed Mirage Ultra full face mask. The two side ports you are talking about do, indeed, both have caps on mine. They are little plastic caps that screw on and off. The exhaust port holes are 6 little holes arranged in a semi-circle silicone pad much higher up on the mask. So, yes... both ports on the front should be capped.

Your respiratory therapist left you with a mask with a big hole in the side?

What a way to get started.

I think I'd shop around for better service.

Hope you get it.

I would make an attempt to seal the second port-hole on the mask if it was me. I also have the ultra mirage nose/mouth mask and like rested gal mentions it does have caps for each of the two ports. If you can't get a replacement cap right away, it probably doesn't take very much to seal that port off so a simple tape job might do it.
