Soar nose from nose prons

Post by ddm » Tue Apr 17, 2007 9:04 am

I have a Comfort Lite II mask using the medium nose prons. Overall I'm happy with it except I'm experiencing a sore nose on the insides of my nostrils. It's near the front of the insides of the nostrils. Anyone know of anything I could apply or use for the discomfort?

Thanks .............Denny

I tried a saline nasal gel. The expression "rubbing/pouring salt on to wounds" came to mind.

I used Neosporin complete, and applied a very thin layer with a q-tip several times a day. Neosporin has vaseline in it. If putting vaseline in your nose is an issue for you by a different antibiotic cream. Ask the pharmasit.

Wash your prongs very well with soap and water. I started using lanolin on the prongs after that.

Are the prongs the right size for you?
I can do this, I will do this.

Ddm:
I use a little KY liquid in each nostril before putting the prongs on at night. I use a NasalAire Freestyle Nasal Prong.

Denny,

I use the CL 2 also. I find that about every third night I need to change from the basic pillows to the nose "mask"..............and then back in about 3 or 4 nights. That's one of the benifits of the CL 2. By alternating interfaces, I stay fairly free of pain. Works for me. You might try it.

Ayr Gel with aloe didn't work for me, either - I found it very drying.

I use RoEzIt. My DME supplied it. It's more lotion-like than gel-like.

Here's the website: http://www.roezit.com/

It's a little pricey (~$9.00 a tube), but it's worth it. Plus, just a little is all you need.

I would call a local DME to see if they carry it.

I use a beeswax lip balm from Walmart. Comes in a littel yellow and black tin. It has a nice peppermint smell and makes my sore nares feel better. How long have you been using the mask? My sore nares mostly went away after about three weeks.......
