long apnea episode 222 seconds

Post by storminnormin » Sat Apr 14, 2007 5:09 pm

I've been doing very well in my treatment for about 5 months now on my resperon auto at 11 - 15 pressure. A few nights ago my machine card registered an apnea episode lasting 222 seconds. A couple months ago, I had one that lasted about 80 some seconds. Is this normal?? It's alarming to think I didn't breath for that long. Also, I have more nonresponsive apneas than I used to. About 1 every week or so. Thanks, so much for any help on this. Storminnormin

That is scary alright, in the last two months, my longest was 25 sec, with the avg being 12 sec. What did Encpre Pro show for the time frame that it happen? Jim

You might want to check with your Dr., if it's not a mistake on the machine and you really went that long without breathing, you need him on it.

Could you post a couple of your reports? There are several really technical people here that can probably help you.

Where are you seeing the 222 seconds number? That will help us let you know exactly what the info means.

I'm pretty sure the 222 seconds is total time in apnea, not the length of a single apnea. Unless you only had one apnea.

Several of us on the forum have searched the raw data of EncorePro for the length of each individual apnea and we cannot find it. Our working conclusion is Respironics stores the total time in apnea, not the length of each apnea.

222 second apnea

Post by storminnormin » Sat Apr 14, 2007 5:34 pm

I got the 222 seconds from MyEncore. I just crosschecked it with Encore Pro and it said the average length of apnea that night (7th of April) was 4 minutes. The thing is that both it and MyEncore say I only had one apnea that night. I was stumped cause usually I have 2 or 3 apneas about anywhere from 12 to 16 seconds on a given night.

One NR (or even a few) appearing on the data every week or so would not alarm me at all. Even if I had not been having them before.

That's a puzzle. Can you post your EncorePro Daily Details report from that night as well as the MyEncore screen that shows the 222 seconds?

What version of EncorePro are you using?

Also - do you have EncorePro Analyzer?

I'm asking because I'm under the impression that there may be issues with MyEncore working with the newer versions of EncorePro. I would feel better about the data you're seeing if it came from EncorePro Analyzer.

SleepySandy, I'm using 1.5b7 MyEncore version. I'm looking to find out what encorepro version i have. I purchased it Nov 06 from cpap.com. So it's pretty new. I'll try to attach a file that has pictures of my data from both. Thanks!

How are you seeing how long your events go for? I can't seem to find it.

are you looking at Summary of Compliance - All data for Snoredog (no wait you are not snoredog)?

That is average time spent in Apnea per Day (or NIGHT) not per event.

Look at your Daily report graphs for those NR events, what pressure are you at when they appear? Should be a tic for the NR event then look below for double/triple Hypopnea as the trigger of them.

Check some of your other reports it the same NR's show up note the pressure where they appeared then lower your Maximum pressure below that pressure.

You should NOT have any NR's on your reports.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Josh,
In the daily report page of myencore it has details. One of those details is the # of apnea events. Another one is the average duration of apneas. If I had only 1 apnea and the average duration is 222 seconds that tells me that the one event was 222 seconds.
I'm trying to figure out how to post the information for sleepsandy to look at. Do you know how I can do that?
It won't paste into this browser for some reason. Thanks

storminnormin,

You're right - you can't paste images directly into messages. Here's a post with some information on how to post images:

I would be amazed if you had a single event that long and survived it. That is nearly 4 minutes without a breath. Must be a fishy result from the machine. Does it correspond to anything else on the chart?

222 second apnea

Post by storminnormin » Sat Apr 14, 2007 8:34 pm

Terry,
The only thing I see is that it was at the pressure of 12. I'm going to try and post a picture of my data so sandystreet can see it and any one else help me with it.
