CPAP Treatment and sore throat

Post by chris2 » Thu Apr 05, 2007 9:50 am

Hello Everyone
Have been getting treatment for my sleep apnea for almost a month now- Feeling the benefit. Problems with overtight mask straps, air leaks, numb nose and sore throat are minor compared to not using the treatment.
Having said that, I find myself waking with a sore throat- has anyone any ideas
Thanks
Chris

Are you using a heated humidifier?

A sore throat can be getting used to the unusual therapy, but more likely it's being caused by your throat getting too dry.

You can try turning up your heated humidifier -- and if you don't have one you need to get one.

But it's also very possible that you are mouth breathing or mouth leaking. You would either need a full face mask, or mouth tape. Do you ever wake up and find air gushing out of your mouth?
