Switched Back To Straight CPAP

Post by TXKajun » Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:34 am

Hi, all.

After about 2 years using my PB420E in APAP mode, 9 cm to 14 cm, I decided a couple of nights ago to switch back to straight CPAP. My numbers have been pretty darn good (AHI from 0.5-2.9 over the last few months), but I just haven't been having the energy I think I should be having. So, I went back to CPAP at 14 cm, with a 30 minute ramp time from 9 cm.

My original titration was 16 cm and the info from the Silverling software showed my 90% pressure to be between 13 and 14 (with only one night reaching 14 in the last 3 months).

After 2 nights, I don't notice a big difference in the morning or early part of the afternoon, but starting about 4PM yesterday, I didn't get my usual energy slump. Yesterday, I felt good, was alert and mildly energetic until almost 9 PM (which just happens to be my bedtime). Hopefully today will be the same or better.

I guess it's gonna be too much to ask that I feel like I'm 20 again (I'm 55), at least without getting back into some kind of workout program. LOL

Overall, I think there is a bit of improvement. Time will tell.

Good luck everyone and sweet dreams!

Kajun

Thanks for the replies and good wishes, ya'll. I'm going to give it a week or so to fully kick in, then download my info. I'll post the results.

Ain't that the truth!?!?
I keep hoping this therapy will reverse some of the damage I've incurred over the years......I'd LIKE to feel like a youngster again. (I'm just not sure I can remember what it was like.....Hmmmmm)

I'm not that old at 44, but my ears are shot, my back is shot and I'm pretty fat. I have lost weight lately by doing a walk-fast around the park, which takes 40 minutes or so. Now, I'm up to a mostly jog, sometimes walk pace and feel much better with less weight and more energy. Now, I even "march" once a week with my alumni drum corps, which is a blast.

You don't need to "work out" just walk for 30 min. or so a day. It really beats the blues. Hardest steps are the first two out of the front door.

Wow..it's funny how you try to form a mental picture of someone based on their posts.

Den...I had you pegged for a 50 something.
Telly...I had you pegged for a 30 something.
Ed and Kajun..well darn, you blew it cuz you posted your pictures!

Well, you're all young at heart!

Mary (who is 44 and some days feels like 92 )

Like I tell my Sweetie, remember the saying "You're only as old as the one you feel!" LOL

Luckily, Sweetie is lots younger than me. (and a whole lot better looking!!!!)

Remember when we weren't supposed to trust anyone over 30?

When I think about how fast the last 20 years has gone.....

I'm still a youngster....I'm still a youngster.....I'm still a youngster.....(he keeps telling himself)
