Well its official, I have now waded completely thru the muck, and will be receiving a check reimbursing me for my Respironics Remstar Auto with Cflex heated humidifer, Resmed Ultra Mirage. Total with software (they didn't cover) was just under $500.
Compared to the $500 I would have paid from a DME for a Fisher Paykil with a Respironics Comfort(less) mask.
Moral of the story? Check with your insurance about reimbursement, buy from cpap.com, then keep on the insurance company til you get the money back.

Mikesus,
Waaaaaaaaaaay cool, and congratulations on your persistence. I still expect to be fighting the same fight even though at the moment I have a wonderful DME who *says* he will accept assignment from my insurance even though he is not in their plan. I just have a feeling that it will all change when/if insurance doesn't cough up anything to him.
So, I keep reading and learning from all the insurance tips on this board in hopes I find the silver bullet that will get my insurance to cough up some cash as well.
Again, congrats.

Great news!
I feel so lucky...I have only a fairly weak graduate student extended health plan from SunLife Canada. Though my premium for this policy is $90 Canadian per year, they coughed up exactly $2000 for my CPAP, leaving me only to pay about $200 Canadian. For any Canadians in here, word on the street about SunLife is that they will only cover you if you have moderate to severe apnea....so talk to your doctor about that!
