New Hybrid Mask

Post by rachael778 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 10:04 pm

Hi Folks,

The Swift nasal pillows worked well for me, but for some strange reason, after about 3 weeks (I first started treatment about 5 weeks ago), mouth breathing became an issue. A chin strap didn't work (it was always falling out of place, no matter how much Gorilla tape and Velcro I used). Yes, I would have sewn the darn thing into place but wanted to check how it would adjust. Day before yesterday, the advisor at the local Shoppers Home Health Centre pulled out a brand spanking new Hybrid mask. Being still in denial, decided to try and use my chin strap again, with a few tweaks. Same sleep deprived night, leaving me with a very dry throat, hoarse voice - dry right to the soles of my feet. The worst ever! And I drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

OK, I will try this Hybrid mask tonight, and before going to bed, I noticed that the very same mask is in the streaming news at the top of the board. What a co-incidence! I'll let you know how it goes.

Just a word of caution, one night is usually not a sufficient trial for the Hybrid mask (or any mask). It may take you a few nights to find the right setup for the mask. Post your progress (or lack of progress) on this board and you will get much advice on adjustments to make.

The Hybrid mask has been a life saver for me.

Good luck.

Also, if you are a mouth breather, the Hybrid will not resolve the dry mouth issues. If you can control the mask leaks however, the treatment will be effective and all you need to do is find another way to mitigate dry mouth.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

New Hybrid Mask

Oh yes, I was intending to inform of my progress in about a week's time. One night is not enough to judge how the mask will work.

Since I'm here, I will say the the mask fitted well, and was comfortable. I did experience dry mouth, but not as severe as at other times.

With the new headgear (make sure it's grey and black) , it's a sinch. No problem with leaks. You'll love this mask. Almost every size will fit with the new headgear so just find the best one for you. I'm, on my second Hybrid and I can't find anything better.

I wanted to try this new mask, but the sleep center says that it has been taken off the market.

Oceanpearl,

The sleep center is clearly lying. The Hybrid mask has not been taken off the market or anything like that.

It's on the market, but many DMEs (and sleep centers) won't carry it because there's an issue with the insurance billing codes. In other words, many insurance companies (including Medicare) will deny payment.

I got that information from the sponsor of this website, billmyinsurance.com, who will not process claims for the Hybrid until the issue of billing codes is cleared up. If you want it, you may have to pay for it out of pocket.

some people won't take the miscellaneous codes if they can help it. Thats what the hybrid is stuck with wile it's under review. That's medicare.
If you have something other than medicare, it shouldn't make any difference.
Medicare will pay for the hybrid, it just takes longer. Apria is too greedy for that. I dont understand why buillmyinsurance has a problem . My insurance pays for it. I have blue cross now.

Hybrid Mask

rooster,

Before turning in for the night, I did read the Owner's manual DVD and repeated reading some parts several times. Your advice and methods are very well written. It is a real treasure. You are a real treasure! I've printed it out for future reference.
Thank you!

Where did you buy the hybrid? I noticed you are in Canada and I am too.
The DME in my area does not sell it. Will you let me know.

I got mine at Shopper's Home Healthcare-you know, it's a subsiduary of Shopper's Drug Mart, I believe.
E-mail me if you have problems in finding it.
