% of positive therapy

Post by C-Man » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:56 pm

I have been using the ultra mirage full face mask for over a year now. I have it hooked to a resmed s8 autovantage with humidifier. I have to be honest and say that the % of nights of non compliance far out number the positive nights of compliance. I mean I am logging 1-2 hours a night with this thing on. These masks suck. I have tried the Fisher and Paykel flexi fit 431 and have had the same conclusions that when you get to pressure between 13 and 14 good luck not taking this thing off after an hour and hurling it across the room. I keep hearing all of these posts regarding peoples successful compliance but with my results I find it a little hard to believe that all of these posters are not experiencing sufficient leakage to tear the mask off only after an hour or two. Does anybody have the same experiences? I would think by now I would have worked out the leakage kinks but I end up strapping this thing down so tight in order to do so that it leaves me with marks on my face in the morning. according to the graph that cpap.com provides the ultramirage is one of the best masks in terms of peoples surveys. Does anybody have any recommendations.

What other masks have you tried? Have you tried a nasal mask or pillows? Are you absolutely sure you need a full face mask?

You already know that sleeping without cpap isn't doing you any good, and many people would not agree with what I'm about to say. But, have you tried lowerins the pressure to where you can tolerate it? To me, it would be better to get some therapy at a lower pressure than none at all.

It sounds like you're only trying FF masks. They tend to leak a lot more than nasal masks, and especially nasal pillows masks... Have you considered taping and/or chin strap to be able to use a comfy nasal interface?
