Had a set back
Eek very sorry to hear about your bleeding. Be very careful with it and I would follow the Doc's advice closely. I faced a similar issue with my father due to his smoking and high blood pressure. The Doc's in the end had to go up in and try to burn the bleeders shut had to do that more then once. Once he stopped smoking and got on his meds, like they had been telling him all along, he got better. My hopes are that you won't hit that stage and they will get your bleeding under control fast. Keep the air in your house moist too and try your best to relax. I think keeping the nasal tampons moist is a good step but even breathing through your mouth, the dry air could be a problem.
Best Wishes and hang in there for this to shall pass.

Lots of pain today and blowing ugly stuff out of the side that isn't blocked. I called the Doc's office twice today about the pain. He teaches at OU teaching hospital on Wednesdays, so no luck getting these damn things out today. He called me in a script for antibiotics and offered a pain one too, but I hate taking pain meds. I'll be so damn glad when this is over with.

I can only imagine, Jeff. I certainly hope this passes quickly and you finally mend RIGHT and w/o further problems. You had mentioned earlier the septum was now deviated again ... any word on that or too soon to tell if this was all for naught?
This all has to be so DISCOURAGING as well as absolutely MISERABLE for you.

With the two nasal tampons in the right side of my nose it really just LOOKS deviated. I don't think it really is. I'll know in about 4 hours how this last week from hell has played out.
Doc put me on some strong antibiotics and I was able to kind of squeeze the nasal tampon and get lots of red water out of that side of my head. I think I relieved some pressure that was causing the pain. I can feel when it gets loaded up with this "water" and I go get a Kleenex and hold under it and milk it a little. I usually get quite a bit out. In fact, the nasal tampon is hardly red anymore.
JeffH...LOL

OK, I'm back from the docs. He really took his time with me and checked everything out good. Said it looked like I was pretty well healed up. One thing he said that was kinda funny is, "eventually, everyone quits bleeding". One way or the other they do....LOL.
Told me I could get back on my APAP and to use the humidifier setting at 3/4. Just got another one, so tonite it's air with moisture in it for me. Told me to sleep in the recliner for another 4 or 5 days and to not blow my nose for 10 days and take it easy for that long also. Wants to see me in two weeks to see how things are doing.
Another factor that probably played into this is I'm diabetic and don't heal real well. Also, when I was off the hose, I noticed that my blood sugar was running 40 points higher than it was on the hose. Part of the "cure" was part of the problem.
God, I hope this ordeal is over with....and the good thing is I'm sure my Doc is wishing the same.
Thanks everyone for the kind words, and lets hope I'm done with nasal tampons for this lifetime, anyway.

What a relief! About 8 hours and 45 minutes on the hose last nite and things are looking up. I'm a side sleeper, and I'm having to sleep in the recliner, so I didn't figure my numbers would look very good this morning, (they didn't) but at least I got so sleep with the machine!
Ended up taping my mouth at 2:30 in the morning and the numbers improved after that. I think I'll bump the machine up a notch to deal with back sleeping for the next 3 or 4 days. I can't wait to get back in bed.
There is hope on the horizon!
