You can tighten the UMFF and get improved results without the pain but you can't the Soyala. The secret to the soyala is in the adjustment at the top between the forehead and the mask and keeping everything squeeky clean....no oil on the mask or the face. If you tighten the soyala too tight you are in for a rough night. You can't let the hard plastic rim get too close to the nose either.
First night on Soyala FF mask
The thing is, the Soyala FF is not at all like the nasal version, which works great for me with the very same adjustments. I've had great results with the Soyala nasal mask for the past two months. Of course, we are talking about two different animals here-- ff and nasal, and naturally one should always wash their face before putting on your mask... but NO mask should EVER have to be over-tightened, or it's just not the right mask for you, plain and simple. (I had no nose or forehead irritation, regardless.)track wrote:You can tighten the UMFF and get improved results without the pain but you can't the Soyala. But after you start having unexpected leaks occur in the middle of the night when you're bleary-eyed and tired, you're bound to have a lapse in judgement.
IMHO, It's a far cry from the UMFF...but YMMV.

You are correct in that statement, unfortunately it seems over-tightening is the only way to stop the leakage. This mask (satanic as you called it) is very unforgiving but it sure has given me better numbers than my Ultra Mirage FF so far. Wondering now what a medium sized (instead of a large)Ultra Mirage FF would perform like for me, hate to spend another $185.00 to find out though.

I'm about ready to sell it pretty soon (or call an Excorsist)
Evidently I'm one of the select few who gets good results with a chinstrap, so for now I'll use my Soyala nasal mask. But I sure wish I could wear my UMFF, I think it's a great mask.
I have two Ultra Mirage FF that I'm willing to sell. They're mediums, one used, and one (new) still unopened in the package. PM me if sometime in the future you may be interested.

Last night my leak numbers with the Soyala FF were .26L/s or 15L/m. I did notice that what was sealing early and the middle of the night was starting to leak a little in the early morning. I suspect by morning the oils on the mask and face are starting to effect a good seal or else everything has stretched out a little. I have noticed if the head gear slides down the back of the head it loosens the bottom straps automatically so you need to keep the back head gear up and in place.
