Need help with interface decision.

I'm going to have an appointment with my primary care physician at the VA on the 20th of March. I want to approach her about a different interface. I believe, because of all my physical issues, (beard, nostril pain, discomfort from hoses on the side of my face, etc., etc., etc.) I've narrowed my choices down to two different interfaces. The Comfortlite 2 (CL2) and the Aura Twilight NP. I'm primarily a side-sleeper..............both sides.

This request is for those of you who have had both, or those who only have used either one, could you please share with me your opinions and comments. Pro or Con.

Well I have never used the Aura, but the two masks you mentioned are
both from the same family; Adam Circuit/Breeze/etc, they are both over-
the-head nasal pillow masks. I do use the CL2 quite a bit and I
like it. The advantage the CL2 has, over the 'Headrest" is you can get
it with two or three styles of attachments: Nasal Pillow, Nasal Prong, and/or
Simple Cushion. If the Nasal pillows make your nose sore, switch to the
Simple Cushion for a while, then switch back when your nose-bridge get sore. Frequent change is good.

btw - I always sleep on my side.

I think you need to add two other masks into your mix. I have tried the Optilife and it is great for side sleeping. The only downside is the hose management, it must run down the front. I think the ball joint on the Opus takes care of that complaint and if it as light as the Opti it may become my mask of choice. Mine finally shipped out this week and I will let you know.

The Comfortlite 2 (CL2) and the Aura Twilight NP.

No matter which one you choose, you will probably want to perform one of Rested Gal's operations on the mask to make them more comfortable.

I have the CL2 and like it very much. I too, sleep on both sides.

I recommend the Adams circuit. I've used the same one for seven years (with nasal pillow changes and new headgears) and it works for me. Also, the hose goes up between your eyes, the cost is low, the nasal pillows are cheap, and it works well for side sleepers. I'm a side sleeper too.

I used the Adam's Circuit for quite awhile. However, I got spoiled by the
nifty little adjustment knob on the CL2.

I am shamelessly "bumping" my own thread so I can get as much info as possible to help me make my decision. I know there are a lot of you who use one or both of these two masks and I really welcome comments. Please chip in your opinions.

I LOVE my CL2 w/the nasal cushion. I love the ease of taking the mask off and putting it back on during the night when I make a bathroom trip.

UNFORTUNATELY, I've recently encountered a slight problem w/the headgear. It is thinning my hair at the top of my head in the section from which the hose leaves the headgear. Its taken almost 4 months to make it noticeable.

I'm now faced w/one dell of a hilemna. I HATED the Swift headgear. Too darn much trouble snapping and unsnapping the headgear during the night. Yet I need SOMETHING that is going to stay away from the top of my head. *sigh*

It always surprises me how few people seem to use and then recommend the Oracle oral CPAP mask, especially for side sleepers and stomach sleepers (both of which I am).

Sleepy-eyes, I've used both the interfaces you mentioned and like them both -- ComfortLite 2 and Twilight NP (Aura.) I'm primarily a side sleeper, too.

Bear in mind that I made drastic modifications to both thos interfaces to make them suit me.

Twilight NP - I removed all the headgear and use two of my homemade straps.

ComfortLite 2 - I removed the swivel elbow on top of head. I use one homemade strap with any of the three nasal parts I have for it; pillows, simple cushion, direct seal.

I also like a deconstructed Breeze I use sometimes. Again with a homemade strap around the front.

My extremely modified ("deconstructed") Twilight NP is my favorite, by far, of any mask I've ever used. I hasten to say, though...some people have done the deconstruction and not been able to use it that way. Everyone's mileage varies!

I have used the CL2. I liked it except that it slipped off the top of my head, even after the removal of the top thingy. I had to put a chin strap on it. Rested gal told me to use the panty hose fix. It is on my list of things to try. I have not given up on this mask. I prefer the cushion to the pillows.

My hair is silky and slippery, and not long enough for a pony tail to hold the head gear on. Actually, I can't keep a barette in my hair, so no wonder the mask came off when I moved. I now have the pad-a-cheeks pad for the headgear and will try that soon. I am still experimenting with another mask.

I want the perfect mask. Haven't found it yet.
