Perhaps it also explains why my pressure was titrated too low. I was given Ambien during my sleep study. If the Ambien reduced my apnea my apnea severity would have been underestimated. I wonder what effect it would have on pressure requirements?

This study was published as an abstract and presented orally at a conference. These data and conclusions should be considered to be preliminary as they have not yet been reviewed and published in a peer-reviewed publication.
Gee I wonder WHO paid for this study?

Very Interesting Sleepy WI. So in actuality, hypnotics can have an affect on sleep study titration by possibly requiring less of a presure than you normally would require when sleeping without a hypnotic.

this is a very interesting study...

I am very skeptical of this study. Note that the improvement was only in "centrals" (They selected patients who were classified as suffering from central sleep apnea not osa). In fact, if you do the math, you can conclude that obstructive sleep apnea events increased:
# The average total apnea-hypopnea index—including both central and obstructive events—fell from 30 per hour to 13, a difference that was statistically significant at P<0.001.
# Central events fell from 26 per hour to seven a difference that was significant at P<0.001.
By these statements, simple math says obstructive sleep apnea events increased from 4 per hour to 6 per hour.
