Re: Non Refreshing Sleep
Sorry about your sleep problems. Try eating a lighter dinner earlier in the evening.

Re: Non Refreshing Sleep
I'm sorry for your discomfort. The resolution for it does seem obvious though. <shrugs>
It's no secret that constipation causes pressure and bloating in your belly, making it hard to find a comfortable sleeping position. So change whatever it is that's making you constipated. I.e. Increase and/or supplement dietary fiber, drink more water, increase physical activity and engage in regular exercise, and spending less time sitting and lying down.
Umm.. maybe avoid heavy meals and/or obvious trigger foods such as you've described?
Meats and chicken take a long time to break down (2-6 hours depending on fat content and portion size) keeping your stomach active when it should slow down. Lying down at 11 PM after eating meats and other heavy foods at 7 or 8 PM can cause acid to rise up—called acid reflux—making you wake up without knowing why. So again, avoid known trigger foods, or eat them earlier in the evening.
This topic has nothing to do with sleep apnea and/or related CPAP therapy, which is the primary focus of this forum. If the above suggestions aren't helpful you'll likely get better answers from Redditt, AI, or maybe even... <gasp> ...a real live doctor.

Re: Non Refreshing Sleep
as has been mentioned, eating close to bed time can cause a lot of problems getting to sleep and/or staying asleep. when I was a young man, this wasn't a problem for me. but as I "aged out", it would cause more sleep problems.
like the others, I'd recommend eating earlier or if that's not convenient, eat a lighter meal.
good luck!

Re: Non Refreshing Sleep
i was having a difficult time but my sleep doctor calmed me down, told me to go back to the p30i, lower my ipap back to 15, epap back to 7 and PS back to 4, from 17, 11 and 5, with which i was experimenting. so hopefully i am resolved no full face mask for, ever. I don't know why but i had this feeling that the AirFit F20 would be Shangri-la because I was getting no leaks or very bad leaks.
So what I'm trying to say is, you're assuming everything is the stomach issues, but it might not be. If you have Oscar try and go through those issues and maybe they are caused by eating too late or eating the wrong things but it might be something else. Check your leaks and your apnea events. Also keep in mind, it takes a while to get yourself back to waking up wide awake. I think your body has to adjust to the changes you make and sometimes he doesn't want to for good reason and maybe that's why I was tired . When put back all the changes I made and went back to the P-30 Nasal pillows I was doing better on the numbers but I was still waking up with this heaviness in my head. It takes a while to catch up. I have no idea why and maybe it was just me I don't know but you got to give it some time. Nevertheless, you're better off not eating very late but that might not be your problem. Go back to your sleep Doctor and talk about your settings and how they came about because maybe they're not right.
There was something else I was doing wrong which exacerbated the problem and that was I had my Air Curve 11 on the shelf behind my bed So it was maybe 6 to 8 inches above my head. My intern who also has sleep apnea, said to Where do you put the machine And I said what do you mean And he said is it lower than your head and I said no but it's right behind it And he said no it's gotta be lower like on your night table. That was another issue that had to be cleared up and I was getting big weak problems and nobody ever thought to tell me maybe that's what it was they never asked me where I put the machine and nobody told me when I first got it that it's gotta be below my head. For years I used the S9 in the same place and I never had a problem but not so with the air curve 11.
I was going crazy with all this also and you always have to go back to basics. You may need a sleep study but talk to your doctor and if he or she isn't very good. get another one. But at the very least give your doctor a chance and if things are failing go back and tell them. I haven't seen my doctor in years come every time I come there I'm speaking to a PA And she was telling me my results aren't that bad even with my Leaks being over 25 sometimes even over 30 so she was kind of pushing it off. And then I wrote them a letter and sent them all my results and that's when the doctor said hey let's go back To the list settings which ironically he had nothing to do with and quite frankly needed the pulmonologist I went to as those settings were made up on this website with somebody who really knew what she was doing and when gave it to the pulmonologist he says yeah that looks great. So he gave it to me on a prescription pad and I've been using that for 13 years. So my problems were the air curve 11 was too high and I discovered I'd do better on my back And the last couple of nights I've even noticed how loose the pillows were. They were up against my nose but it wasn't tight and they weren't hurting which sometimes they do if I make it too tight. In the last couple of nights they've been kind of easy and I'm sleeping on my back and I'm getting very good results.
So good luck but check your nightly results And who knows you could even have Central l apneas That require a different machine or perhaps you need a different mask or something else.
