Looking to buy an ASV machine
I am a longtime sufferer of apnea. I tried CPAP therapy around ten years ago but got less sleep using the machine than without it. After spending many hours doing apnea-related research on Reddit, I realized that part of the problem must be that I have complex, mixed apnea. Treating the central sleep apnea is apparently more difficult and requires a different machine. I really wish someone at the sleep lab a decade ago would have mentioned that this might be why I failed CPAP therapy in the first place. I have now come to the realization that medical professionals might not be very interested in actually helping us so I am going to help myself.

Re: Looking to buy an ASV machine
Your conclusions are likely incorrect. Care to post why you believe:
- had complex, mixed apnea, and how severe it was
- why it caused you to fail

If you had trouble tolerating CPAP 10 years ago, you will likely have a greater difficulty with ASV.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 9:36 amYour conclusions are likely incorrect. Care to post why you believe:

If he has complex sleep apnea he is obviously gonna have trouble tolerating a CPAPDog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 9:38 amIf you had trouble tolerating CPAP 10 years ago, you will likely have a greater difficulty with ASV.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 9:36 amYour conclusions are likely incorrect. I mean I pretty much went the same route he did and bought my own ASV because I didnt want to go through all the bullshit with insurance. I learned a bit about my data and adjusted my settings over time and now I sleep very well.

Which is why I asked why he believes he has complex apnea.sleepinow wrote: ↑Tue Apr 28, 2026 7:26 pmIf he has complex sleep apnea he is obviously gonna have trouble tolerating a CPAPDog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 9:38 amIf you had trouble tolerating CPAP 10 years ago, you will likely have a greater difficulty with ASV.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2026 9:36 amYour conclusions are likely incorrect. Reread his post, his post says nothing about seeing evidence of complex, it says he did some research (on reddit) and now 10 years later he has concluded, it must, be complex. That's nonsense, and not how complex should be diagnosed.
And no, you did not go the same route he went.
You didnt decide 10 years after failed CPAP that your problem must be complex because you read a few posts on reddit.
