Where is the AirSense 12?

Post by tlohse » Sun Feb 15, 2026 9:55 pm

Hmm I always wondered how come Resmed didn’t come out with a12 yet it seems like the 10 and 11 of the AirSense series have been out for quite a while now. I currently have the 10 but am due to be getting the 11 pretty soon.

There were seven years between the release of the AS 10 and 11. A lot of people started speculating about the release of the AS 11 after four or so years, some thought they would wait. Many who did wait for the 11 were disappointed because the 11 had problems and few (if any) advantages.

ResMed does not publish anticipated release dates.

It's a medical device, not an iPhone.

If I were ResMed I would release a new model every 5 years as that is about time when most insurance and providers will allow you to replace your machine.

That's rediculous...You release a new product when there are new features that will benefit users...not on a time schedule. My Airsense 10 is 7 years old. I am on Medicare and could get a new machine if I wanted, but I do not want an Airsense 11. I will keep using my 10 for another year . I have already purchased another new 10 that will last me at least 7 years after my current 10 stops working....I only hope I live that long....I'm 86.

Well to each their own.but in my opinion it’s always best to go with the recommendation of 5 years between machines. Enough said. By the way I will be getting a 11 as that’s what my doctor ordered and my insurance covers it and it’s about time for a upgrade anyway.

Seems to me that they would be:

1. Adopting a wait-and-see approach to what happens with Kricket; and/or

2. Working on their own inspiratory pressure reduction algorithm that doesn't impinge upon 20250032733A1.

Meanwhile, looks like an A11 enhancement (Personalized Therapy Comfort Settings (PTCS)) will be available shortly:
Smart Comfort is the first FDA-cleared AI-enabled medical device that recommends personalized comfort settings to help people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) start and stay on CPAP therapy.

Smart Comfort will launch in early 2026 in a limited U.S. beta version for new users of myAir, Resmed's consumer sleep companion app, paired with a Resmed AirSense 11 device. It will be followed by a broader U.S. rollout to new myAir users later in 2026.

If Resmed were to release a new model every 5 years I can only speculate it likely may drive the cost of the machine upwards due to engineering, design, tooling, and regulatory approval costs incurred more frequently to put a new model out. One way to offset costs related to production of frequent new models might be to cut corners in some aspects of the device which could affect quality and reliability.

"Enough said", why? Because you can't support your opinions.

Your premise seems to suggest that new machines are always improvements over their predecessors. And that simply isn't true.

The forums are full of people who moved from an Air10 to an Air11 and instantly recognised that the Air11 was inferior, some went back to an Air10. While new features, technology and improvements often comes with newer products, so too comes production cost reduction and that's what happened with the Air11.

The problems with the Air11 are well documented, many have been addressed, but some problems took years to address, and others have yet to be resolved.

The same thing happened with the DreamStation II. A cheap, replacement to the DS I.

Woah way to tear me apart Dog Slobber. Truth is I stand by everything I ever said or will say in this forum. Anyhow I am now an AirSense 11 user as of today and I think it looks awesome . Secondly according to a simple law all technology including cpaps will get better over time.

OMG I just peed myself laughing so hard. You obviously have a lot more trust in technology than I do.
I have just spent 2 plus days fighting with my computer because it did some updates and now nothing wants to work right.
Right now I think I just need a big sledge hammer to fix my computer.

Not all new changes are necessarily for the better.
They haven't change the algorithms though and to me that is the most important thing. The other stuff is just fluff or cosmetic fluff.

Hmm. I don’t want to start trouble or make an enemy of anyone here but in all truth anything I ever used in my 48 years of life has ever had an issue that wasn’t improved by upgrading. I admit though it would be nice if the old worked with the new.

Aha!! This is a trick question!

You've never actually upgrading anything, so technically you've never had an upgrading issue!

While it may be true, that you stand behind everything you said; standing behind everything, does not make what you say true.

  • never heard of this simple law, citation needed
  • while technology can get better over time, there can be iterations that are not an improvement
  • What improved technology did the Air 11 introduce, because I can list areas where the Air 11 was not an improvement

I know the simple law!

If it an't broke, don't fix it.
