If you look at the graph, there are ALWAYS leaks at 25 and higher and there is usually a baseline amount betwewen 30 and 40 where the line stays very straight. Should that baseline be near zero?
Allen,

Each mask has a built in leak rate, exhaust, CO2 washout, whatever you care to call it. For the Comfort Gel you are using the published leak rate is 23.4 lmp at a pressure of 8 and 26.7 lpm at a pressure of 11. I don't exactly know how it would work with the bipap but let's say you were using a steady pressure of 11. Your "baseline" would be 26.7. So anything much over that would be actual leaks. I don't know how tight the manufacturing tolerances are, but I'm sure there would be some minor differences from mask to mask.

For some reason the your download is getting corrupted in some way. Are you using a proxy or anything on your web browser (you may not be able to know since ISPs often cache http)

Some security programs block the download of .EXE files, just like you can't send folders in a e-mail. Somethings I have to change the extention to send, the rename it back on the other end. Jim

I download all the time and never have a problem. However, I did just switch to Internet Explorer 7 the other day. Could that do anything? Could you send it to me as an email attachment? Sorry for being such a pest!

James, maybe Jim is right, it might help to change the name of the ext to xxx Or if someone else has the latest version of the software, as I have a bipap, maybe they can would send it to my email?

By the way, I have a feeling I can do two thinks to help my sleeping.

1. Tighten my mask so that when I open my mouth it feels lousy. RT said that is supposed to happen and that is what keeps your mouth shut. I have a feeling with all the talk about not making the Activa tight, I am still making it too loose.

2. Got a big pillow and I will sleep further back on it tonight to prevent the straps at the back of my forehead from riding up, causing the mask to drop down and perhaps find leaks.

That's the problem I have with the Activa, the straps ride up all night and wake me up with leaks, I would like to see the dummy Resmed made that headgear for, it must be square and have wood screws sticking out all over to tie the straps down. The mask does need to be loose to work but if it is the headgear rides up and leaks. So much for the best designed masks in the indrusty, they havn't showed me anything yet. Jim

Done.

If it was being blocked it would not have downloaded at all. This a corruption of some type. Not being able to send folders is an unrelated issue to security.

Last night I took the Activa and hooked the headgear upside down, it did better that way, but you still need screws to hold it in place. Jim

Encore Pro patches...

Post by Mick » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:54 pm

I have an older version (hard drive crash) - anyone still have the patches that can send to me (they are no longer publicly accessible on Respironics [go figure - long story when asking Respironics for the updates], or have an alternative method get the software up to the latest version).

I just got my first report from the encore pro software that I installed on Feb 4th. I was surprised that it said my average AHI was 7.2 with average time in apnea per pay was 14 minutes. My leak rate was anywhere from 32 to 35 but no large leaks.

I am on a constant pressure of 10cm, and am surprised that I am still having that many apenic events.

According to Skinners Analyzer I have anywhere from 38 to 62 total obstructive apneas each night! Woe is me. Ideas on how to get the AHI down?

Jeff in TN

Couple of ways.
Either increment your pressure up about a cm at a time for at least a few days at a time.....OR....

Put it in AFLE mode and leave your bottom pressure at 10 and your top pressure at 14 or 15 for a week or so and see what shakes out.
You'll be able to see at what pressure the events are happening and hopefully what pressure clobbers them.

Den

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

I agree with Den. Try it at a higher "auto" pressure because the reports will show at what pressure the apneas are happening.

It's also possible that you might need to go lower. I get more apneas at 8 than I do 7. So I've recently set my machine at a constant 7 -- and the nice thing about that is "no more puffy eyelids" every morning.

I had thought about doing that very thing tonight! Brilliant minds run together!

Also I found out for me the F & P 431, raised my AHI, from AHI 1.0 on the ComfortFull, to AHI 6 & 8 with the F & P 431, why I never could figure out, the the difference could be seen every time I made the switch. It didn't have to do with leaks, and it's a shame the F & P was more comfortable. Jim

I have an Ultra Mirage FF Mask that I might try tonight and see what the numbers look like in the morning.
