Mask question
Mask question
Here's an interesting problem maybe someone can explain:
77 year old male:
In 2011 I was diagnosed with apnea at 19 events/hr and started CPAP treatment with a nasal mask ... With treatment I've averaged less than an event/hr.
Recently it was noticed that I had a high leak of 40L/min, and it was suggested that I switch to a full face mask. I've tried several different types, but they were all much too uncomfortable and even painful. With the full face mask my leaks dropped to around 5-10L/min, BUT my events climbed to 3 to 5/hour. My doctor suggested I go back to the nasal mask, which I agreed with.
My question is why my events would climb with a full face mask. Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Re: Mask question
There could be a dozen reasons. We would need to see your SleepHQ file to try to answer your question.
Did you change your machine mask selection to FFM?

Re: Mask question
Went to upload to SleepHQ, but they wanted the SD card unlocked... I've always locked the card when I removed it from my Resmed machine, not wanting any accidental changes to be made to the card. What will happen if I keep it locked when uploading?

Re: Mask question
Which model machine are you using? The one in your equipment profile is different from the one in your signature. Maybe you kept the S9 as a backup?

Re: Mask question
I'm using the Resmed Airsense 11, which is not an option in the choices here...

Re: Mask question
It is offered as an option in the equipment menu choices.
Look right under AirSense 10 Card to cloud in the list.

Re: Mask question
Figured it out... the Airsense S11 I under "A" but I was looking at Resmed "R" in the list which has another Resmed device there... it's not consistent.

Re: Mask question
And I finally found my unlocked card reference in the SleepHQ site: https://community.sleephq.com/c/knowled ... 7d5aacca33
Step 2: Insert Your SD Card
Insert your CPAP machine's SD card into an SD card reader connected to your computer. Make sure the SD card is not locked.
I'm going to try it locked and see what happens

Re: Mask question
A physically locked SD card can still be read or copied. The lock only prevents new data from being written to it. However, if the SD card is "encrypted" or "password-protected" through a device's settings, then it may not be readable by any other device.

The data is now uploaded to SleepH! as someone suggested. Link to get there is https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_ ... /dashboard

Re: Mask question
I'm willing to give you some ideas ...
... but you need to say which dates were with the FFM.
BTW, you leak is so high on the 17th, I wouldn't trust the AHI data.

Re: Mask question
Another BTW, your doctor does not have the time nor the inclination to examine your data as thoroughly as members here do. "Go back to the nasal mask" was a quick and easy way for the doctor to move on to his next appointment.
