ASV use the same blower motors? - S9 Adapt ASV

Post by Pasta » Sun Apr 13, 2025 5:24 pm

So my faithful Resmed S9 Adapt ASV is still ticking along like a Swiss car at 34,467 hours run time and of course has had a run time exceeded warning for a while now.

The replacement motors for the S9 series are usually marketed as being for the “S9 full range CPAP” or they’ll list every model in the S9 range except for the ASV. I can see how an ASV might have a more complex motor than the others. Or am I overthinking it and an ASV is mechanically just a CPAP with different software? I may order one and compare it to the OEM part but would like to avoid the hassle if I can.

They have identical hardware and different firmware.

Awesome, thanks! I honestly didn’t expect that but figured it was worth a shot.

Thanks. Life got busy...
Have evangelized offline about benefits of CPAP.
Managed to get 4 family members to take up the therapy.

Now trying to get my 91 year old father on it. He has arrhythmia so definitely would benefit.

The Resmed machines are very good. Well worth replacing the blower motor.

Yeah that’s another part of it. I love my machine and really don’t want to roll the dice on a different one, especially at ASV prices. I’m somewhat electronics savvy and until searching Amazon for blower motors on a whim assumed I’d have to gut the machine and deep dive parts suppliers with a part number. I can’t believe they’re as easy to replace as they are.

If the warning message doesn't annoy you then

Yup, not hard to replace at all.

Otherwise if you have a backup machine, consider sending your ASV to https://acbio.com/

It is often recommended as a service provider.

They will replace the motor AND reset the counter so the warning message doesn't appear.
