Is Hazardous Foam Used in Philips M-Series?

Post by Georgio » Tue Dec 10, 2024 8:33 am

I really don't want to go there but can anyone tell me if the Philips M-Series has the problem "PE-PUR" foam? The model was not recalled but in my mind does not mean it is safe. I am having headaches & sinus infections that are making me suspicious of my M-Series. Four courses of antibiotics gave me temporary relief but it comes right back. I see my ENT for the third time tomorrow and am going to make him aware of the potential cpap issue.

Phillips Respironics did NOT include the M series (and earlier models) in its foam recall.
They "said" it was safe foam.
We, as lay people, have no way to prove or disprove their claims.

However, there are many potential reasons for chronic or persistent sinus infections.

Thank you Pugsy, that is very true, it's unfortunate to be scared of my medical device.

Philips M Series was discontinued August, 2010.

Medicare and most private insurance will pay for a new one after five years.

I suggest you get a new one and not another Philips. You probably couldn't get a Philips in the US if you want to, as they no longer sell here.
