Hose getting water in it while I sleep . . .

I have a Resmed Airsense 10 w/humidifier. When I wake up in morning, I find that there is water in the hose.
What am I doing wrong?

You aren't doing anything wrong. Water in the hose or mask is simply Physics in action.

Thanks. I failed to mention that the humidifier in the CPAP operates via a heating element. Could a blown heater fuse cause this symptom? I really need the humidifier feature; if I don't use it, I dry out terribly.

Also, I have used this unit for 2-3 years (with a long hose) and experienced no real problem with water in the hose and the mask, certainly not as bad as it is right now.

Are you sleeping through the night? If so, then you can pretty much ignore the problem and just dump the water when you wake up in the morning.

If the water in the hose is causing a gurgling noise that is waking you up in the middle of the night, it's worth doing some trouble shooting

If your humidifier is warm when you turn the machine off, then the heating element is working.

I really need the humidifier feature; if I don't use it, I dry out terribly.

How cold is the ambient air in your bedroom? What is your humidifier set on? And are you using a heated hose?

If your bedroom is cold and you're not using a heated hose, then buying the Resmed ClimateLine (heated) hose for your machine is well worth the money.

If you are using a ClimateLine heated hose, what is it set to? If you're using "Auto", try changing it to manual and set the hose temperature for as warm as you can tolerate without feeling too hot when you're trying to get to sleep. If you are already using manual, try increasing the hose temperature by a few degrees.

Also consider where you run the hose. If you run the hose under your bedcovers, your body heat can help keep the air in the hose warm enough to prevent condensation.

Finally, if you need to use the humidifier set on maximum and you sleep in a cool bedroom, you are going to get condensation in the hose. Making sure the machine is lower than the bed helps to encourage the condensation to run back towards the machine. But if there is a low spot in the hose, that's where the condensation will accumulate. Sometimes you can just lift the hose up so that water in that low spot runs back to machine and into the humidifier tank.

In case anybody else is having this issue:

I was having the exact same issue for a short while with my Resmed Airsense 10 w/water chamber. I found that if I just reduced the humidity control by 1 number setting, the problem disappeared.

I keep my machine lower than my head. last thing you need is a slug of water in your nose. I too adjust the humidity one number to compensate for high humidity days.

Make sure that the exhaust vents are not plugged-up. All of sudden a few months ago I started having large amounts of water building up quickly in the mask and main tubing and it was not rainout (no water in the tank, no tank at all; using the bypass module). This went on for several nights of misery before I finally was able to find the problem; the P10 exhaust matrix was not clean enough even though I always cleaned it every morning. The P10 was venting, just not enough to fully exhaust my breath. The moisture in my exhaled breath was enough to create a lot of water. For that and leaking problems, I gave up on the P10 after using them for a few years.

-it's a terrific option. just be sure you do the "flossing" in the shower as this spritzes water every-freaking-where.

and note that I said if you happen to have this. not urging people to go out and buy this just for this purpose.
