Old Hand and yet a Newbie

Post by Tino2You » Tue Oct 29, 2024 2:43 pm

Hi everyone,
I’ve been using CPAP for over 12 years at first using a DME and quickly going on my own. This cycle (my 3rd) my doctor “required” a home sleep study, which I failed miserably (who knew). Since this is my first cycle using Medicare, my doc had to dot all the T’s which now is the newbie part of my story.

My CPAP therapy has been wonderful. I am 98% below AHI 2. I ALWAYS use the CPAP even when I nap. I called the new DME (AdaptHealth). Was told “you script” says “generic”. I like my AirSense 10 and my P10 mask. I’m not feeling comfy with my first encounter with AdaptHealth asking what equipment they will use.

For those that are more familiar with Medicare. What are my options? Do I have to “take what’s giving me?”

Thanks,
Tino

No....you can refuse anything you don't want.
Medicare doesn't care about brand or model they only care about HCPCS billing codes. That's how they get paid.
You can fire them at anytime and find someone else who will supply you with what you want and not want they want to sell you. I fired my first DME because they lied to me.
