REMStar Question

Post by Sleepy-eyes » Wed Feb 07, 2007 9:57 am

Okay, I need help with this. I use the humidifier with my REMStar CPAP machine. When I start my treatment at night, I have to turn on the humidifier and then start the air pressure on the machine. Fine and dandy, no problem. But then 4 or 5 hours later, I get up to "answer the call" and turn off the machine because I download data each morning and to leave it on would register a very large leak and mess up my numbers. So when I stagger back to bed in a stupor and turn on the machine again, I inevitably forget to turn on the humidifier. (hate it when that happens, but hey, I'm half asleep when I get back into bed!)

So my question to all you REMStar experts is: Is there any way I can access the secret "inner sanctum" of this machine to tell it to turn on the humidifier automatically when I turn on the air pressure for treatment?

Chris

In a word....."Nope"!

Not in that machine.
Hey.....you might learn to like "passover" humidification.

Not that I've ever heard of. The newer "M" series machines do turn the humidifier on/off when the blower is powered on/off, but the older REMstars don't turn it on automatically.

I've never worried about a Large Leak skewing the leak data, since I know "why" the data showed it. I just leave the machine running if I'm going to be away from it for short periods. But I use just Encore Pro for a look-see each morning or back at several nights in a row, and am not into looking at long term trends.

What I do is turn on the HH right after I turn off the machine. The 20 minute
timer "kicks in" and the water stays warm.

Funny thing though, when I use the heat on the HH with my CL2, I tend to sleep through the night.
However, I can't use the heat with my Hybrid. My face gets too slippery.
Right now I'm using the Hybrid, because I pulled
some skin off my face with the tape. I never sleep through the night with
the Hybrid. I must wake up and wipe it down at least once per night.

In other words I use the humidifier in pass-over mode with the Hybrid.
Pass-over mode is water in the tank, but no heat.
