Is it normal my P10 nasal pillows are this noisy?

Post by bibbie » Fri Sep 20, 2024 2:52 am

Hi,
Is it normal my P10 nasal pillows is this noisy?
I can constantly hear the air rushing through the vents, and my breathing is very loud as well.

See the audio file below, best to listen with earbuds.

It appears that you are sensitive to sound, and have been for some time.
There are solutions, you need to speak to your doctor.
If it affects your sleep, insurance may cover therapy or devices, whatever is needed.

No, it's not normal for the P10 to be noisy. It should be almost totally silent when fitted properly.

If this is recent, it could be either soiled/worn pillows or headgear.
I mentioned sound sensitivity because of OP's previous posts.

Hi, it think I am just unlucky by receiving 2 faulty machines (one was secondhand so was a risk). I don't think sound sensitivities are the cause here.

bibbie, buddy,

Some time ago, sounds in the house were waking me. I downloaded a white noise app to an old cellphone. Playing it at a low volume took care of the noises in the house. I noticed it also covers CPAP airflow and my breathing.

I use it every night, and it is easy to pack for trips.

Random noises at night can feed some interesting dreams.

Hi Pugsy, do you hear any mask sounds at all at a higher pressure, such as 15?

I don't see mid teen pressures much anymore. I used to though....been known to hit 20 in the past.
I never ever heard any noise with the P10 other than when I maybe didn't have it fitted quite right or didn't have it seated on the frame correctly. Of course when I did hit those higher pressures I just slept right through them anyway....so I don't know if it happened to be louder at the higher pressures or not. Didn't wake me up.

I have lost considerable weight over past couple of years and my pressure needs seem to have reduce considerably.
I used to see mid teens often but now it's rare for me to see 12 cm.

I now use the Eclipse (it's silent as well) but the P10 is my back up number 2 mask when I don't use the Eclipse.

My husband just had surgery so I am pretty busy taking care of him but if I have time later and feel like it I will play with the P10 and give 15 cm pressure a try to see if I hear anything.

I find anything in front of the vent will increase the noise my Swift FX makes. Pillow, covers, or short hose cover slipping down too far.
