May Be Very Interesting!

Post by McSleepyhead » Fri Jun 28, 2024 9:58 am

So I am new to CPAP and into it for just over a week. I bought the discounted Airsense 10 older system "Card to Cloud". For the price savings at $499.00 plus a 20% coupon I figured I could not go wrong. I skipped the insurance thing and just bought it out right. I may upgrade later and use insurance, but to get started this was fine.

So I figured the extra step uploading card was worth the hassle and/or bringing system in to Doctor to get reports. I did personally turn on the "Clinical Reports" feature so I could see more details.

But, here is the thing all my data automatically uploaded to my "MYAIR" profile today. As I understand it it shouldn't be able to do this.

So the interesting part is, assuming I have all this correct, did my "card to cloud" system just happen to have a modem?

On my "MYAIR" account the system it is saying I have is the Airsense 10 Respond. In my box it had directions on using the Card To Cloud and the SD card. My purchase order clearly says "Card To Cloud".

Soooooooooo do they all have modems being the same system and Resmed just markets them as card to cloud to attract a lower price point buyer?

The only change I made from when I received it was to change setting to be able to view the Clinical Menu.

So did I get lucky? Am I misunderstanding something? Anyone else?

I’D suggest just getting OSCAR and not stressing about it.

Compare the serial number on the machine with the serial number in MyAir.

It's possible the supplier was out of CtC machines and just filled it with a machine that had cellular connectivity.

Definitely card to cloud model. But, during research I did find out these systems were converted to "card to cloud" due to a chip shortage during the "covid" period. Despite being so inexpensive the unit was new and on the website the inventory said 3 remaining.

I must of just gotten new old stock ( explains discount) and a converted unit which actually had the cellular connectivity. This make more sense than all the units having the feature but marketed to a lower price point. Still worth checking if you own an Airsense 10 card to cloud. Set up an airsense account, turn on clinical menu, and see if yours connects after a week or so.

I’D suggest just getting OSCAR and not stressing about it.
The point of the thread was the system capability.

That's the good point in your thread.

Saying "possibly" is not assuming.

Not his problem when the wrong word is used.

Absolutely the computer did it that is my story and I am sticking to it.
Saying "possibly" is not assuming.
Assuming is however a possibility.

The Respond is a branded device from India.
  • Look on the screen, to see if there is a set of signal strength bars.
  • Look in the about section, to see if there is modem information.
  • Compare the MyAir usage to see if it aligns with your actual usage.

a) Your system definitely has a modem, note the bars at top right
b) Your vendor set you up to use MyAir if you did not do it, probably at your doctor's direction

If you don't want MyAir working (Big CPAP getting your data) you can:
a) turn on Airplane Mode (very easy) or
b) get inside and unplug the modem card (easy)

Normally vendors do this as a courtesy for doctors, who don't have a clue how to set up AirView (the M.D. version of MyAir). Your doctor probably sent the prescription to allow you to purchase the machine and went ahead and gave them your MyAir account info as a matter of course. Your doctor prefers AirView since they don't have to do any work to pull the 'chip' (SD) data.

Resmed has gone through the C2C backstock and is now selling machines with modems into the C2C market is my guess.
