Philips discontinues many products
Re: Philips discontinues many products
According to this Dream Station 2 is also discontinued (in the US). In fact, all xPAP machines are being discontinued in the US (according to this). Supposedly, they will continue to support the recall.
In any case, many - including myself - said that Philips (or at least the medical device division) can't survive long term. I suspect that this is step one in the fulfillment of that "prophecy."
Of course "prophecy" isn't really a good term here, as a "prophecy" is something that nobody could logically predict.

Re: Philips discontinues many products
This thread just reminded me of something . . .
Has anyone here heard that Philips may be discontinuing some products? I think I remember reading in a thread a while back that something like that might happen.
TIA.

Re: Philips discontinues many products
Glad to see these products discontinued. Most of them are well over 15 years old and with todays technology, many of them can be integrated together.
For example there is no reason why CPAP machines of all different models can't be replaced with ONE ASV NIV model
Everyone with OSA or CSA can benefit from ASV NIV therapy instead of having forced air continually blow air into their lungs whether or not they need it
Time to retire the good old CPAP Auto nonsense.

Even though I have had extensive experience with the use and functionality of several types of different PAP machines,no information in my posts should be put in practice unless cleared by your own medical practitioner first.

Re: Philips discontinues many products
Momentarily appearing on Yahoo news:
An article featuring 561 deaths due to philips foam.
Weird.
Yes, It was there--and then it was not.
Inquiring minds are literally freaking out!
Edit: Aha! Bloomberg silliness:
"The US Food and Drug Administration said it has received more than 116,000 medical device reports (MDRs) including 561 reports of death since April 2021 regarding Philips Respironics’ recall of some of its ventilators, according to FDA statement published on Jan. 31."
Yahoo edited out the mention of VENTILATORS, and any fatalities unrelated to foam.
Shame on yellow journalists!
But no less shame on PHILIPS.

look, i'm not a supporter of philips, but they need to be handled truthfully regarding their shenanigans. we already see enough rumor and innuendo on this forum as it is.

Re: Philips discontinues many products
My doc said my 5 year old Resmed couldn’t be replaced by my insurance company because with the Philips recall and now this, demand far outstrips supply. So there aren’t enough machines out there to give everyone a “free” new one every five years. She also said the technology hasn’t changed so unless the machine is broken there’s no point in getting a new one.
Broken machines will be replaced, but not properly functioning ones.
So much for that “free” travel CPAP I was hoping for!
