After making a cpap machine change, how long should you wait before making additional changes?

Post by pitman » Sat Jan 20, 2024 9:56 am

I am making one change on my Resmed Airsense 10 in the pressure. How long should I wait to access the results and consider making another change? A day, a few days or a week?

Thanks!

That depends on whether (1) indications are that therapy is completely ineffective or (2) indications are that therapy is mostly effective but minor tweaking is all that is needed.

Changing one thing at a time and giving it several weeks is the scientific way of seeing what effect one specific minor tweak has on overall trending of the AHI. But as is the case with an overnight PSG, making several changes at once is understandable early in the process when getting settings in the general ballpark.

There are a variety of individual approaches, but the underlying principle is the need to understand that one or two nights is rarely enough time to evaluate a significant tweak. The body takes time to adjust, and each night can have its own unique circumstances that may be unrelated to the tweak.

I would go with no more than one tweak per week.
Just me, and because it rhymes.

Unless a change causes disastrous results I think that giving the change at LEAST a week is indicated.
It all depends on what the goals are as well as just how much of a change was made.
Is it a big change or a little change kind of thing.
