New user... pls help....
Hi all,
Sleep study revealed an AHI of 19.9 so cpap was offered to me..
I've now had the Resmed Airsense 10 autoset for a week and every night my ahi has been below 4.8 (4.8 being the highest so far). No leakage using the full face mask.
Now while this is fabulous and I do feel the quality of sleep I am getting is better... I can't help but think its too good to be true. I don't know why but I'm quite distrusting of the reliability of the results. Also so I don't go into any more detail... Still getting my head around it all.
Fab forum by the way. Extremely helpful.
Xxx

Re: New user... pls help....
G'day Carlywarly, welcome to the forum.
These machines are extremely reliable and there's every reason to trust the output. A treated AHI of 4.8 is OK, but many (most) people will feel better if they can get the AHI down lower - personally I prefer a target around 2.0.
There are a few tweaks you can do to get the AHI as low as possible, but we need to see some actual data to offer any suggestions. If you haven't already done so, download and install Oscar (link in my signature). An alternative is SleepHQ (link also in my signature). If you use Oscar, generate a screen shot, upload it to an image-sharing service like Imgur, and post the link here. If you use SleepHQ you can ignore the Imgur part - you can create and post a direct link to your data.

Thanks for asking, mainly below 3 per hour , I work so many odd hours I haven't got into the oscar thing. I am feeling better. Not sleeping any longer but the time I am asleep is definitely better quality. Xx

Congrats on getting off to such a good start. Hope feeling better over time gives you more confidence in the treatment.

Thanks
one thing I have noticed is my bottom teeth are very sensitive all of a sudden? Also sometimes I wake up with what seems like a tornado going on in my nose and face
. Lips and cheeks blowing all over, I have to reset for a ramp up. Any ideas ? I also already use a full face mask so it's not that xx

You said "like a tornado going on in my nose and face".
Is this "tornado" inside your mask or outside ? (Tornado seems to imply a high flow rather than a high pressure)

Inside the mask, puffs my cheeks up and lips, I have to lift the mast to release it. Almost like its too much xx

OK, that would be pressure rather than airflow.
Do a forum search for "Chipmunk cheeks" - it's a well know condition
