DreamStation time setup
DreamStation time setup
How to set the time in DreamStation?
The parameters include the "time" and I can change it using the "knob", but in 30-minute steps (I suspect it's about time zones).
The problem is that in my DreamStation, for example, at 10:00 I can choose 9:40 or 10:10.
I was hoping that the time would synchronize after connecting the phone to Dream Mapper via Bluetooth - but I don't see any difference...

Re: DreamStation time setup
AFAIK, the clocks on that brand can not be set by anyone other than the factory.
Resmed's clocks are easily changed by the patient.
I have done it many times.

Re: DreamStation time setup
Respironics machines have an internal clock set to GMT time that the patient can't access.
Now they do seem to have a time zone adjustment thing which is nice if the internal clock wasn't off...
But yours is off for some reason. How old is the machine? Respironics internal battery that powers that internal clock are well known to drift...sometimes a little and sometimes a lot.
Is there some special reason that your times have to be exactly perfectly correct? Like are you trying to sync up one of those overnight pulse oximeters so you can have more precise times when looking at desats or something???
If you are there is a way using OSCAR to adjust for the clock drift so that times are exact.
If not...hours slept is hours slept no matter what the clock says and other than be annoying it's not that big of a deal.
Now if you want to have your reports be exact you can use OSCAR and adjust for the drift.
Go to file in the upper left corner and click on it
from the menu that opens up
click on preferences
when the little box of tabs opens up click on the "CPAP" tab and in the upper left corner you can see where you can adjust for clock drift.

Re: DreamStation time setup
Thank you very much for your answers.
I bought a new camera and I've had it for 3 days (!) - it's quite new, so there shouldn't be a case of time drift.
I know the option in OSCAR but it is only a workaround and does not remove this error.
My 11 minute difference is one of the biggest differences possible
.
Can I complain about this problem to the manufacturer/seller?
Has anyone done this (if so, with what results)?
I am thinking about another extreme solution to the problem: I suspect that the device has an internal clock powered by an internal energy source (battery?). If I stopped the clock by disconnecting the power supply for 11 minutes, the problem should go away - but this would require opening the device, which is covered by warranty...
(But if such an operation were to start the clock from e.g. 2000.01.01 - it would be a serious problem...)
Therefore, I think it is better not to think about such a solution at all.

Re: DreamStation time setup
I had the Dreamstation prior to my current replacement Dreamstation 2. From what I recall the time was accurate as reported by OSCAR and events seemed to match up with those of my O2Ring. My Dreamstation 2 also appears to keep good time as well and also seems in step with the O2Ring in OSCAR. I just looked and the DS2 displays the current time in the setting menu and was dead on to what my smart watch showed. Both these machines were/are equipped with cell modems and send data daily. Perhaps when the cell modem does the handshake to receive data it also sets/corrects the time(?) Does your Dreamstation have a cell modem?

Which model is this Dreamstation? Should be a label on it?

Re: DreamStation time setup
My Dreamstation does not have a cellular modem.
I hoped that the time would be synchronized after connecting via Bluetooth to the cell phone and the DreamMapper application on it. Unfortunately, the time does not synchronize.
I live in Poland.
I bought the device in a store from the official European distribution.
Device data:

production date: 2021/03/10
rev 15

Re: DreamStation time setup
No never post the SN.
EUX500S15 is the model # I wanted.
In the US there was a Dreamstation 1 which was recalled (search here or Google for more info)
and a Dreamstation 2.
Since I am not able to determine which model you have I will assume it is the older model and the battery is weak.
Can you manually subtract or add the time when using Oscar?
Replacing the battery could cause a worse time lag than you have now.
Hopefully some of our European members can add more?
Good Luck

Re: DreamStation time setup
I found this post below on another forum board. The poster evidently got the clock to sync when a cell modem was installed and connected to a network. Assuming you could find a modem (possibly used, maybe eBay or similar) and the DreamStation can connect with a cellular network that connects to a Respironics host, you might be able to get the clock to sync. This seems to confirm what I had said about my old DreamStation keeping correct time with the modem.
Amazon in the US had listed a DreamStation modem for $65. Possibly a forum member might have an unused DreamStation with a modem that they might be willing to send you the modem for free or a minimal selling price(?)

Regarding the battery in the DreamStation. The service manual appears to show one that is a type of soldered in place coin battery on the main circuit board. Generally the coin battery is a 'backup' power to keep a clock running when a unit is unplugged from the wall outlet or loses power for a time. While the unit is plugged and powered the clock should be able to be set and hold reasonable time. Sort of like a digital alarm clock that keeps the clock time as long as the power is applied, but if the power is lost, the battery takes over for a while."Time Setting on Dreamstation without Cellular modem
As per my other post, I have purchased a Auto Dreamstation to replace one I had on trial. I didn't purchase the Cellular modem as I have no intent on using Dream Mapper when Sleepyhead is available!
The new model came with its time off by about 14 minutes. You can only set the time zone on the Dreamstation - not the actual time.
I am assuming that Sleepyhead uses the time setting on the device to identify when my therapy starts and stops and to show events, so I wanted the time to be accurate.
A bit of research led me to believe that the only way of setting the time on the unit is with the Cellular modem picking up time from the network, so I pulled the modem out of my trial unit, popped it into the new unit, powered on and voila - time was correct.
So the question is, is there any way to set the time on the Dreamstation without the modem? Computer clocks are notorious for drift, so I expect over time the clock will become reasonably inaccurate again.
I know it isn't the end of the world - just wondering if anyone else has come up with a solution for this. Maybe connecting to bluetooth will allow it to do the same?"

Re: DreamStation time setup
Thank you very much for your answers.
I see that this is an active forum where you can count on help quickly
Before purchasing, I hesitated between DreamStation and DreamStation2.
After all, I decided that DreamStation is "solid" and DreamStation2 is "plastic", so I chose DreamStation with the knowledge of possibly purchasing a modem (I planned https://www.respshop.com/cpap-supplies/ ... fi-modem-p -1581.html <- here it costs $59)
Of course, if there is someone on the forum who would like to sell an unnecessary modem at an attractive price - I am interested in purchasing it.
Please contact me regarding this matter.

Re: DreamStation time setup
No one has a modem for sale?
Re: DreamStation time setup
you might want to make a separate post asking if anyone has a modem for sale.
usually, i'm against starting a new thread for something mentioned already. but i think in this case, you're likely to get more "eyes" particularly if someone is doing a google search.
good luck!

Re: DreamStation time setup
Not sure if it makes a difference, but would a cell modem be country/region specific. The OP mentioned living in Poland.
