Hi folks!
I’m currently trying a p30i mask with my (stupid) iBreeze APAP machine. The new problem I’m having is the headgear is ballooning up pushing the mask off the top of my head. I imagine this could be a problem for any of the top of head connector masks be DreamWear or Resmed. Is this a pressure too high issue? Or maybe the opening size of the nasal sections is not allowing enough air in? I’ve already moved from the small nasal piece to the medium to allow for more air in, however the medium does feel a bit wide for my nose. My sleep techs on top of selling me the iBreeze (so I have very limited data) have not really been very helpful in solving my cpap issues.
Would love any advice that folks have
Elisabeth (Liziloo)

Re: Strange mask/ headgear question
It's not. The P30i is a popular mask that gets 4.5 of 5 stars on cpap.com.
Find that mask on youtube and watch a few videos on fitting and adjusting.
Welcome to the forum!
BTW, just curious about which pressures you are running?
Re: Strange mask/ headgear question
What size frame are you using? Any chance you could maybe try smaller frame?

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: Strange mask/ headgear question
I use a Dreamwear mask which is similar. The back of my mask tends to ride up on the back of my head, even with the "headgear with arms" which are supposed to prevent riding up (they help a little).
It has to do with where the headgear sits on the back of my head. There are a few solutions:
But I do agree that the size of the headgear might be the problem also--either too big or too small.

- If you have long hair, you can put it in a pony tail above the headgear and that will hold it in place (so I've been told, I have short hair).
You can sew the hook side (scratchy side) of velcro tape into the back of your headgear strap, facing toward your head. This will catch on your hair and prevent riding up (no, it's not uncomfortable).

Re: Strange mask/ headgear question
Thanks folks!
I have the small size headgear ( I’ve tried the standard and it was way too big). It truly is bizarre to wake up and feel the silicone piece above my head puffed up like a balloon but it’s happened more than once. I’ve currently got min pressure 11 high pressure 12 trying to see if narrowing down the pressure variable helped some other issues I was having. This is my 4th mask I’ve tried and I’m still having a lot of issues. I do have a follow up with my sleep tech Thursday but so far she’s not been super helpful.
I think I may still be struggling with mouth leaks as well despite my best efforts and I’ve watched so many videos on mask fit and mouth tape options and the typical solutions don’t seem to be working. I may have to try a full face mask again even though I’d prefer not.

Re: Strange mask/ headgear question
It appears you need to try a different mask.
I tried it too; and did not like it either, for different reasons.
No one mask works equally for everybody--or face.
