Sleep Study Results help
Hello,
I took few days ago a home sleep study as it was the only one available in order to see if i have any sleeping troubles, here are the results:
I have slept around 3h, woke up 3-4 time during the night. Very bad sleep. I could have tried to sleep again more but it has a higher chance of making me even more tired ...
i really don't know what could makes me tired. Tho my allergy test came up positive to mostly dust mites so i'm taking measure against that. No problem on blood panel (hormonal, vitamins, deficiency)
Is there any abnormality on the study? Might try to book a polysomnography next time even if it costly. I don't know if there is anything in those results that could point out if i nose or mouthbreath

Looks like your AHI is 3.8, significantly below the normally accepted threshold for CPAP intervention therapy. Other factors, however (such as your snore and flow limitations), might suggest that there could be some potential benefit to positive airway pressure therapy but that is best assessed by your medical professional who can do a full workup.

Hello thanks for the answer!
The thing is that i only slept3 h during the study and woke up 2 time, once had to go to wc, eat a very small snack, drink one cup of water during 5-10 min before failing asleep.
My sleep is very fragmented since i can hardly stay asleep/get any restfull sleep. Doc adviced to go to sleep at same hours but its close to impossible because i sleep randomly: 3h, 7h, 2h, 5h, 5h, no matter if i'm on a circadian rythm or not, my body simply wakes up and kick me in the butt to wake up, if i go sleep again, either i fully sleep and i'm tired, small nap and i'm tired, or not sleep and i'm tired, basically everything lead me to being even more tired
Since i have a dust mite allergy, i started covering/cleaning everything and i will see if it does any improvement, if it does not should i look into a full lab study to try and figure what cause my sleep to be fragmented? Before i was a teenager, i never had any problem of this sort, it just came randomly and since then no matter where/how i sleep, or fabric/antihistamine i use, i'm always tired

Dust mite control:
Clean bedding--vacuum and disinfect mattress too.
Bathe or shower before bed.
Allergies may require extreme measures; and dust mites dine on your dead skin--
And live on YOU and your bed.
Most find them harmless.

Re: Sleep Study Results help
As for dust mites, it helped me a lot to keep indoor relative humidity where I live consistently below 50%. Between that and some occasional outdoor masking on super-high pollen days, I am off my generic Sams/Costco generic Flonase for now.
EVERYTHING affects sleep as we get older as adults. Meds. Emotions. Timing of meals. Etc.
But consolidating sleep often starts with waking up at the same hour in order to train the brain when to start the last long period of REM sleep. Well-timed vigorous exercise at the right time of day can help with timing of becoming sleepy and staying asleep.
You may find that focusing on the principles of "sleep hygeine" (worth a google) pays more dividends than PAP for you, but there is no substitute for a good sleep doc and an NPSG if you find your sleep problems can't be solved otherwise.
It isn't safe to drive, or to do other things that require full alertness for safety, while significantly sleepy or super tired, so I would never suggest giving up or ignoring that sort of thing. Life is too precious for that.
May you find success!

Just to check: did your blood panel include tests for thyroid deficiency, anemia, B-12 deficiency, B-6 deficiency, connective tissue diseases (a family of autoimmune diseases), Lyme disease, and testosterone (if you are a man)?

Yup started doing that with a good h1 antihistamine with very low sideeffect adviced by the doc and the nasal onechunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 9:27 amDust mite control:

Already cleaned my bedding room + bought specific covers aswell as washing at a very high temp. We will see about it in a week because antihistamine seem to take max a week to take effect

Humidity is always 45-55% so it should be safe
Yes to all but B6, including the specific pannel (SHBG LSH Free/Total Test, T4 T3 antibody etc). Everything perfect. Also went to check if i had a bladder problem that could wake me up and disturb my sleep but nopMiss Emerita wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 11:30 amJust to check: did your blood panel include tests for thyroid deficiency, anemia, B-12 deficiency, B-6 deficiency, connective tissue diseases (a family of autoimmune diseases), Lyme disease, and testosterone (if you are a man)?

Opinions differ on that.
"Optimally, humidity in your home should be below 40 percent. Humidity levels between 40 and 50 percent are marginal in terms of dust mite control. In the 50 to 60 percent range, dust mites can be bothersome, and more than 60 percent is very bad."--https://www.nationaljewish.org/conditio ... very%20bad.
Keep the humidity in your home less than 50%.--https://aafa.org/allergies/types-of-all ... e-allergy/

Your AHI may be below the minimum, but your RDI (Respiratory Distress Index) is above. You also seem to snore almost all night long (assuming I understand the SNR correctly.
Having to get up frequently to pee is a symptom of sleep apnea too.
So, if it were me, I would do one of the following:
Go for an NPSG, where they if your breathing problems are affecting your ability to sleep or: Try an autoadjusting machine (with software) for a month to see if it can be ajusted to help you sleep better.
You may know that some people use insulin pumps, and set them up on their own to give them the correct therapy - setting up a CPAP machine with the help of proper software is the same.
Please tell us what you decide, and how things are going for you.

I should try a dehumidifier in a few weeks if i see no improvement from the antihistamines? I don't know the price range if something cheap could do the joblazarus wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 3:23 pmOpinions differ on that.

Might try to get a lab study as used cpap/apap devices are hard to find, but its kind of costly. Forgot to mention that i have 1 tooth decay that is being fixed right now, might have something to do with it? Well i don't know RDI/SNR average so i can't speak much but when i ask a relative to check on me multiple time when i'm sleeping, they tell me they hear nothingozij wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 9:56 pmMeliodas99 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 7:44 amHello,
