Spontaneous Trigger question

Post by ernie220 » Mon Apr 03, 2023 3:04 am

Hey all! I’m new on here and I am looking for some clarity with the use of the Trilogy Evo ventilator. My son was recently released from ICU and sent home with the trilogy machine, which has locked in settings set up by the doctors. A quick medical history - he has Fibrous Dysplasia/MÁS and restrictive lung disease and sleep apnea. He caught COVID which basically affected his respiratory system even more. He was retaining carbon dioxide and it was keeping him sleepy and disoriented. After 2 weeks in the ICU and avoiding intubation, we home with this Trilogy Evo machine.

Now for my concerns…first week on the machine has been tough…mainly because no masks fit properly due to his facial deformity. But we have finally found small hacks to fit well enough to give him a good nights sleep. But for the last few days I am noticing that the “Spontaneous Trigger Percentage” drops to 0% at times and can stay there for a few minutes. Is this something to be concerned with? We’ve reached out to the medical team and haven’t hear back.

Any information would be greatly appreciated while we wait to hear back from his medical team.

I don't think people are ignoring you.

OK I guess they are.

But to illustrate why, let me pose the following question to you.

Is it going to rain here today?
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.

So you gonna be a dickhead too?

The point is, with nearly zero information it's impossible to answer your question. It's probably nothing. If that's the absolute first time it happened it could be something. It could be bad. It could be benign. It could be settings need to be changed.

With all that anger inside you…you shouldn’t be responding to people…you have internal issues you should be addressing first. I don’t think it would have taken you too much effort to ask for more information in order to help me. I’m no expert in this.

And no I’m no “explicit”, I do believe in offering positive vibes to everyone I encounter. I’ll pray for you.

Thanks Steve! Hoping to hear back soon. Still awaiting that call back. We spoke to a tech who read the data that is sent via a modem, and she said there’s no reason for concern, but it should be addressed with the medical team.

Only reason I called it out was because after staring at these numbers on the Trilogy for 3 weeks…I noticed that change, and by no means would I have the skills to know what that. That change meant…so I reached out for help in understanding it somewhat. Thank you.

Frankly, the answer was well-thought out ahead of time, and IMO just this side of brilliant!

I mean, how would one know what the weather would be when one doesn't even know what city one is talking about?

The Perfect Metaphor!

That's certainly not sarcasm. It's barely a conversation ice-breaker.

Then Mr. I Only Have Positive Vibes To Everyone assumes the worst? Little bit of contradiction there, y'think?

Consequently, righteous hypocrisy is squashed like a bug.

Love, hugs, kisses, unicorns, rainbows, etc!!!

ernie, i can't help with your problem, but someone will be along who CAN.

what i can help you with is rubicon. if you don't want to see his posts anymore, put him on your foe list. it's a stupid name for a handy forum feature. it just means you won't see his posts unless someone else quotes him or you take a peek.

where ever you see his name in blue, hover your mouse under it then left click and follow the directions.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I wish I had the expertise to be of some help to you, ernie220. I hope you'll be getting a response from the medical team very soon, though it's somewhat reassuring that the tech sees no cause for concern.

You might try posting over at the Apnea Board Forum. At least in the past, they've had a couple of forum members who are experienced with ventilation.
