Resmed AiirSense 11 Has WI-FI option?
Hi there. I’m an overseas user of an AirSense 11 user and totally new to positive pressure machines. Being overseas my machine wont connect to a cellular network to upload my sleep stats as this currently only works in the USA (and maybe Aus?).
However, I keep finding online references to being able to use the AirSense 11 with Wi-Fi. For example this link YouTube https://youtu.be/B_WlqgGU61I Is this right? Can this be done with the unmodified machine or even with a wireless SD card? I would prefer a wireless option that works with my iPhone versus needing to fiddle around with an SD card and third party app plus needing to use a laptop. I’m even happy to buy a wireless SD card if anyone has worked out how to get this working with a iPhone. Many thanks.

I don't know about the 11, the 10 connects to cellular in all the countries I've been to.

Re: Resmed AiirSense 11 Has WI-FI option?
The AirSense 11 does not support WiFi.
It uses Cellular, to transfer data to the ResMed cloud. You then can connect with MyAir. It also has limited Bluetooth support, meaning it doesn't transfer therapy data. It's Bluetooth usage is so the user doesn't have to enter long serial numbers for MyAir registration and the Testdrive feature.
People have successfully used WiFi Sd Cards, the FlashAir and EZ-Share being two. Unfortunately the FlashAir is no longer in production and the EZ-Share is really finicky to set up.
The video you referenced, is CPAP Reviews. He offers a web/cloud based app, SleepHQ, and the WiFi Solution requires subscription to his service ($15 US/month) and purchasing his Magic Uploader ($250 US).
His Magic uploader is Raspberry Pi/EZShare WiFi SD Card Based, that uploads directly to his SleepHQ service.
You could create your own WiFi SD Card solution, but uploading to a mobile device is problematic. There simply aren't any mobile apps (other than the web-based SleepHQ).
The typical solution is SD Card to OSCAR, which only runs on computers (Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook). The SD Card can be WiFi, so you don't have to physically move the SD Card.
If you are reading the AirSense 11 has WiFi support, more often than not, it's because people are ignorant or careless about their terminology.

The AirSense 11 isn't available where I am (Hong Kong). I ordered overseas from the USA. Cellular definitely won’t work here for the 11, although my friend (also in HK) told me it was fine for the 10. My friend has recently upgraded to the 11 and is mightily unhappy that the uploads no longer work. Hoping I can find a decent solution for the both of us.
I would like to get a wifi SD card working with Oscar. So I guess I need to find the best wifi SD for the job. This is confusing as they all work in slightly different ways and there are several SD and adapter options out there. The info online contemplates you using these devices for pics and videos rather than data, which doesn’t help in navigating which would work best. To be honest it would be so much easier if these joined home networks and acted as network drives rather than behaving as their own wireless modems.
BTW - If by FlashAir you mean the Toshiba FlashAir then this seems to be available (4th gen) on Amazon. It’s pricey and so I would want to know its the best solution before I invest in this (although I don’t mind spending on the best option). Any further contributions on best SD option gratefully received!!
One more thing that occurred to me was to place a Mac mini (or similar small box running windows) near to the resmed with a usb wifi adapter (thereby creating a second wireless network) to receive uploads from the resmed wifi SD - which could upload directly to a folder connected to my home network. Could this then be read by Oscar directly? If anyone has tried something clever like this it would be good to know. I’d rather use a small computer than fiddle around with a Pi.

His French version must be on a different plan. Mine works throughout the EU and lots of other places. It's due for replacement. I'll probably end up with an 11 and get to test international connectivity.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 8:53 amThe Air10 and 11 not working in a lot of countries has been posted about a few times.

When presented with posts documenting devices do not work in some countries, posting that your device works in all countries you've been to really isn't helpful.loggerhead12 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:20 amHis French version must be on a different plan. Yes, the Toshiba FlashAir. And since it went out of production, the price has skyrocketed.Slobdiddy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:18 amBTW - If by FlashAir you mean the Toshiba FlashAir then this seems to be available (4th gen) on Amazon. I got mine in 2018 for about $40(CAN) on Amazon, now I'm seeing it at $460(CAN), $580(CAN). The FlashAir has been the most popular Wireless SD Card for CPAP data. If you get one, ensure it's at least the W-04(preferred), or W-03, I can't remember if W-02 works.
Here's a recent topic about someone getting it to work with his DS2:

I don't forsee a problem with that. The close proximity will help with the WiFi SD Card's limited distance. I don't see the value of creating a second network, that just complicates things.Slobdiddy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:18 amOne more thing that occurred to me was to place a Mac mini (or similar small box running windows) near to the resmed with a usb wifi adapter (thereby creating a second wireless network) to receive uploads from the resmed wifi SD - which could upload directly to a folder connected to my home network. OSCAR should have no problem reading the data.

Re: Resmed AiirSense 11 Has WI-FI option?
This seems to be a complicated method (with possibly some financial costs) to get data into a PC. It's easy to pull the card from the machine, slide it into a PC SD slot, slide it out and replace it in the machine.
Once the therapy is optimized and stable, how often is it necessary to download the card? Personally, it gets done only a few times per year for my data.
A daily check of the basic efficacy and usage stats can be easily and quickly done from the reports on the machine's display. I take a quick look each morning at last night's AHI, AI, leak level, 95% pressure and usage hours. Only when something looks out of whack would I pull the card to have a look in OSCAR. Since my therapy is optimized and stable, it's rare to need to look at OSCAR.
Re: Resmed AiirSense 11 Has WI-FI option?
Unlike SleepHQ - a subscritpion service, OSCAR is free.
OSCAR only works on computers.
OSCAR will not work on telephone apps.
Neither Wifi nor cellular networks are necessary for you to get excellent data and info about the way your therapy is going.
DogSlobber's reason for using a wifi card - as stated in previous posts is to save himself the hassle of taking the card out, bringing it to the computer, having it read, and especially, bringing it back to the APAP - since data not recorded on the card as you sleep because you forgot to re-insert the card, is lost forever.

SleepHQ is also free but data is only retained for 30 days. The paid service gives you access to the forums, various discounts, unlimited data etc. Whether it's good value is a personal judgement.

Yes, precisely my reasons.ozij wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 11:20 pmDogSlobber's reason for using a wifi card - as stated in previous posts is to save himself the hassle of taking the card out, bringing it to the computer, having it read, and especially, bringing it back to the APAP - since data not recorded on the card as you sleep because you forgot to re-insert the card, is lost forever.
Also want to add, that when one's therapy is not yet stable, the convenience of using a WiFi SD Card (almost) daily is pretty valuable. At least to me.
But, after one's therapy has stabilized and importing becomes every few days (weeks?, months?). There is still one signifcant advantage with a WiFi setup. Should a traditional SD Card be inadvertently left in the computer, and one is only importing monthly, then a month's detail data is lost.
Other benefits of a WiFi SD Card:
- Less wear and tear on SD Card reader (both in computer and device)
- Less chance of the SD Card seating incorrectly in device. This may be an issue in Air11s, as there appears to be a measureable amount of Air11 users complaining about lost data, while the the card was in device.

Then, it does depend on the country. Most of the time it doesn’t transmit out of Europe, but it sometimes does. I think it was Singapore (or India? One of the two but not both) were I recently saw the cellular signal not being crossed off. I am currently in Dubai, and there is no transmission.
Point is : out of your own country (or rather the machine’s country), you have a very good chance it won’t transmit but it’s not 100%. I haven’t been keeping a detailed list (I don’t really care, as I am usually away only for a week before going back home where it can transmit the week’s data). But I do travel A LOT (at least one long haul flight a month - and in fact 3 in February) so I think my experience is quite valid.
Also good to note that travelling with the AS11 is really easy (much better than my old DS1!!).

Re: Resmed AiirSense 11 Has WI-FI option?
Thanks again - sounds like the FlashAir is the one to get. Unfortunately I live in a house that is over engineered with re-bars running through the concrete. This means that every room is like Faraday cage and I have to have wired access points all around the house. Long story short - my home-office is no where near my bed room and I need to somehow get the contents of the card onto my network or DropBox. If there’s a way to do this without creating a second network then Im all ears. I think I can run two networks on a PC by having one wired and one wireless but I need to work this out. If it’s easy to upload to Dropbox (and Oscar can read Dropbox?) then one network if fine.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 9:53 amYes, the Toshiba FlashAir. To those who tell me to simply pull out the card, I simply prefer everything automated that can be automated.
Many thanks again for all helpful comments.
