Clearly larger diameter hoses are bulkier and somewhat more trouble to manage.
So why do they exist at all? Most CPAP machines accept multiple hose sizes.
Why not always choose the smallest?
What advantages do larger hose sizes offer?
Quieter?
Better heating function?
Cheaper?
Thanks!

The machine doesn't have to work as hard to overcome the higher flow resistance that the smaller hoses present.bobdrad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 2:16 pmClearly larger diameter hoses are bulkier and somewhat more trouble to manage.

Re: Pros/cons of hose sizes
What PR said plus larger hoses are cheaper.
There is only one size for heated hoses.

Re: Pros/cons of hose sizes
Well, not with Resmed, they have Climateline and ClimatelineMax, because the smaller hoses don't work well with bilevel machines at higher pressures.

Re: Pros/cons of hose sizes
There was a max for the older S9, but I have not seen a max listed for As10 or As11.

Re: Pros/cons of hose sizes
Maybe the difference was not significant enough.
Or the demand was too low . . .

The ClimateLineAir Oxy is 19mm, the ClimateLineAir is 15mm.
https://document.resmed.com/documents/p ... lo_eng.pdf
So they dropped the Max naming on the Air line.

I wonder if one is quieter than the other . . .
