AirFit F30 Mask Leak Issue

Post by Sleepy in CT » Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:10 am

It's been a while since I've been on here, but, I'm currently having an issue. Some months ago, I had my CPAP pressure increased which made my mouth open at night causing dry mouth, so, I switched from a nasal mask (AirFit N20), to a full-face mask (AirFit F30) which solved my dry-mouth problem. I really like the F30. It's very comfortable, I like its low profile (which is good for a side sleeper like myself), and I like that the tubing comes out the front, not over the top of the head. However, I have just ONE complaint with the -- the LEAKS!! I've adjusted the headgear I don't know how many times, I've adjusted the cushion I don't know how many times, but my leakage numbers are all over the place! Sometimes I'll have a few consecutive nights where I'll have a nice low number, like below 20, or even below 10, and I'll think I have the problem licked, but then I'll have a night, like last night, where it was 24!! It's never consistent! Is there anyone using the F30 who's managed to get a good, leak-free (or at least nearly leak-free) seal on a CONSISTENT basis? If so, HOW did you do it. Thanks!

Do the leaks wake you up?

Any facial hair maybe impacting the seal?...or are you clean shaven?

I'm a woman, so, yes, I'm clean shaven. Facial hair isn't an issue. :)

I just got the same mask and am struggling too. Just wanted to empathize. I have to really tighten the headgear a lot.

I find it helps to do the top strap first, the one over the head, to get it tight to my nose. Then I work my way down - ear straps and cheek straps.

while i have no experience with your mask, may i suggest looking on youtube for mask fitting videos? make sure you put the mask name in the search field. also, suggest you look at more than on video to get a better grasp of how to adjust it.

good luck!

I am a newbie at this, but I have been watching a number of youtube videos until I get my Cpap machine. I watched this one tonight on leaky masks, and it made sense to me. Maybe it can be of some help.

Exactly the opposite for me.
I follow Resmed's suggested sequence - while lying down of course.

Interesting. I have to tighten the top first to pull the harness off my ears. Otherwise it rubs painfully.

The AirFit F30 is the only mask I tried that did not leak for me. I am so happy with it. I do wear an eye mask at night to keep any leaks from the nasal pillow from drying out my eyes. I thought I would hate wearing eye mask, but now I love it.

I tried both the Resmed F30 and the F&P Evora which are very similar hybrid full face masks. Found the F&P was easier to adjust and required less tightening. I have stuck with the F&P Evora. You might give it a try. Good luck.
