Here's my advice.
MYOFB.
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.
Make each sensation a little bit stronger.

In all honesty, I'd suggest a bit of starvation. Don't feed the trolls and sometimes---ok, more honestly occasionally---they'll go away, or at least leave you alone, after being starved for a bit.
CAUTION...."colorful" language below and if such offends you...stop reading and move on right now.

  How about "rarely" they will go away once starved?
I stand corrected. If starved, trolls will rarely go away.

Yes, I agree that misleading and/or inaccurate information posted by trolls and potential trolls needs to be corrected. It should be corrected in a factual manner, and if at all possible, it's useful to refrain from calling the trolls names (even "troll) because that's what the trolls are looking for in order to justify escalating their trolling and taking over an otherwise useful thread.

Moreover, calling someone a shithead, dipwad, do-do, or other insulting terms is more likely to result in more trolling, rather than less, even though it can be personally satisfying to use that kind of language when pointing out that a person's post is crossing over into trolling.

Yes, I think its fine to warn a newbie that person X or Y has a reputation of posting misleading information. But try to do it without resorting to childish, playground type insults. Because any troll who values their trolling is going to respond to those insults by escalating the name calling in an effort to derail a potentially useful conversation.

It's worth mentioning that GeneMlps, the original poster in OSCAR chart to grade please? Newguy that has been hijacked by Tec5 and dataq1's efforts to troll Rubicon, has logged in today, although his last post was on Saturday, November 5

So we ought to think about what GeneMlps is thinking about this forum right now: He came here asking for real help. He was getting that help. And then his thread was derailed by trolling and by folks feeding the trolls. That doesn't help GeneMlps and I can't help but wonder if he's going to lurk for a while and then disappear without ever getting the help he was looking for when he came here.

My 2 cents.

When I first arrived at this forum, I was misled a few times by a few who tried to sound official with their pronouncements.

Occasionally Mr. Rubicon has no choice but to point out misinformation and misinformers. I'm personally glad he is in a position to do that, even when he does so with me. And I'm glad he doesn't do it by flashing some virtual badge and heralding his own credentials, since people who do that on forums show themselves to be insecure posers, and he isn't that. He does not hide his experience, but he seems to me to realize that making that experience his actual online identity would be tantamount to running afoul of the spirit of the forum agreement about medical relationships, etc.

It may be helpful if the rest of us don't highlight what he chooses not to highlight himself, despite our good intentions. Might be best to point to his helpful reputation and knowledge and leave it to him when to refer to the specifics of where and how he earned those. Just a thought.

I don't want to share my data.
Just to parse the apples and oranges, personally identifying data is not to be solicited here, according to user agreement. OSCAR data and medical data without personal identifiers is a different matter in every respect. That is rightly asked for from anyone expecting specific help that first does no harm. It is a public forum on meaningful medical matters, and making direct suggestions or observations involving the details of a person's PAP therapy without being told the actual data of someone's PAP therapy is like asking a good pilot to fly blindfolded and withouts comms. Gotta know where you are and where you are going or it's best to just stay on the ground.

And as for privacy concerns and preventing stalkers, only an ignorant poster would use his own photo as an avatar and then post links that contain his real name. That's simply asking for trouble!

Oh. Wait. I'll be right back.

As for being a hit man, I think "former hit man" may be more accurate. Although his greatest hits album is certainly golden and has a snappy beat you can dance to.
My concern isn't personal privacy ( Though as someone who works with personal data I do have a knee jerk reaction.) My concern is really confusing conflicting opinions, being misled or misguided, the kind of "stalking" that prompted this post, and people having a lot of strong opinions about my own health. It's a lot of "swirl" as we say at work when a storm of emails, texts, etc. surround a sensitive issue.

Just the mental effort of dealing with that swirl is beyond me right now.

In the past we have had "some" people who seem to just HAVE TO HAVE it documented whatever qualifications anyone might have to be able to offer thoughts about anything on this forum. If that is what they need....go somewhere else and annoy someone else and try to get whatever they seem to need to be happy.

News flash...documenting any or all personal statements or qualifications to make such statements for saying anything isn't part of the requirements here.

It's the internet folks.

Hell...even over at the documented real sleep tech forum you won't find that everyone agrees with what every one else says.
Some of the ugliest fights I have ever seen was over at the sleep tech forum between 2 guys who had some sort of degree in this crap.

I gotta go...I got more important stuff to do right now.
Gotta go to the beauty shop for one thing and then go buy some stuff for the new horse that is coming this Saturday.
We found a horse that can be a pasture buddy for my remaining horse.
Carino had his brother die last week and he is having a hard time adjusting to being the only horse.

It's a beautiful day here....probably the last one we will have for a while so I got a long list of stuff to do and probably a lot more productive than bitching about trolls here...since I can't do a frigging thing about them anyway that would permanently solve that headache.

When at all possible...don't feed the trolls....if you gotta feed them...make it a really small meal.

I do realize this and I need to make appropriate apologies to him....and everyone should know that I will eventually (in the not to distant future) clean up the shit that has side tracked things.

It's one thing to have a thread like this one...and a far different thing to derail a helping thread from a newbie. I simply won't stand for it.
Throw all the rotten eggs you feel like throwing in this thread but don't go derailing a newbie helping thread.
It's just plain rude for one thing.

I will clean up Gene's thread later after I get a chance to sit down and really go through things.
Like I said above....I got some other stuff to do right now.

I put people on my Foe list and simply refuse to respond to their $#*+. When they aren't getting any response out of me, they eventually give up. It may take a while, that's their problem since their arrows aren't landing on my target.

The problem with a pissing contest is everyone ends up with wet pants.
Sometimes it is the very people who no one imagines anything of who do the things that no one imagines

What have you done to get so many trolls following you around?
Do you have a particularly nice looking bridge or something?

I am reminded of the time that Howard Cosell was simultaneously voted both the most popular and the least popular sportscaster in America.

Not to mention sometimes the outlandish comments meant to start trouble are so out there that they just can't go unchallenged because of the risk of someone (think newbie) not knowing any better and they go believing the bullshit being dished out.
I bet that's how Elon feels.
