Nasal Pillow Question

Post by tgrove » Thu Jan 25, 2007 10:34 am

I've been sleeping with the Swift Mirage nasal pillow interface for the last few months, and I love it. My wife, however, doesn't enjoy the fact that when I face her, I blow air out the vents onto her.

Is there a nasal pillow interface anyone can recommend that has the vents situated differently, so that I can snuggle without the cold air on the dearest wife?

Thanks

I've experienced the exact same problem. I've found the ComfortCurve to be much better with respect to the exhaust. It's not exactly a pillow, but it's close.

The "Aura" is favored by a bunch of us, and one of the reasons is because the exhale port vents up over your head towards the headboard -- not towards your sleeping partner.

Here is the link for more information:

Soon people will be bothered with the sound of the electric current going thru the wires.

A little hesitant

Post by tgrove » Wed Jan 31, 2007 10:54 pm

I've thought about the Aura, but reading the board, I keep seeing posts about how to take it apart, use a rubber band, replace straps, and so forth. I'm hesitant to jump into an interface that so many people feel the need to modify....

I do have to use the rubber bands, but that is the only modification I have had to make to my Aura. I'm not as bold as Rested Gal.

I love my Aura, I can toss and turn and have no problems with seal.

tgrove, if you haven't noticed yet, you will - people have to modify EVERY interace. And the reason for that is that one mask does not fit all. Women, especially, have to modify the aura because the headgear is made to fit a larger (male) head. Once you add a tweak here or there, though (which one you need depends on your face/head shape) it is by far the best interface out there, IMHO, and definitely worth the ten minutes it takes to modify it. There's no other interface out there that lets stomach sleepers ACTUALLY stomach sleep, and bed partners completely avoid that blast of air.

My Aura is very stable with no rubber bands or modifications. It rarely leaks and I have often had to reach up and feel if it was still there it is so comfortable. Sometimes the noise on inspiration is bothersome. I switch back and forth between it and the CL2.

Update requested

I know this was an old topic. Does anyone have any new suggestions? It's about time to get a new mask.

Can you take a piece of paper and angle it, then tape it to the exhaust port to force the air out the side opposite of your partner?
