Mask suggestions for Bipap
Mask suggestions for Bipap
I started using a Bipap about 2 years ago. When first diagnosed they thought I needed ASV, but wanted to try Bipap first and it has worked. My pressure settings started at over 20 and have gradually been dropped to 16 and 12. I have always used a nasal mask and over the head - currently P30i. I’ve always required a chinstrap, which has never worked great. In the last several months I have lost close to 40lbs. I have never had a problem with leaks until now and the problem is my mouth opening - no matter how tight the chinstrap. The leaks are very disturbing to my wife. I’d like to try a ffm to try to eliminate the chinstrap and leak problems. I’ve tried the dream wear ffm, the f30i, and airtouch F20. I either have trouble with leaks or the sensation of my mask lifting on and off my face from the pressure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been using the F&P Evora full face mask for over a month with out any problems. My pressure stays right at 20 cm all night long.

ahoy!
may i suggest, instead of a chinstrap, you try a firm foam cervical collar? here's what i mean-
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=firm+foam+ce ... ss_sc_1_25
it doesn't have to be from amazon. you can find one in a drugstore in the same aisle where you can find bedpans, etc.
good luck!

Re: Mask suggestions for Bipap
Mouth taping may be another strategy for OP to consider.
I am not a mouth breather during the day. I am convinced that (after I go to sleep) the jaw muscles relax and the mouth pops open. I tried the FFM, the chin strap, etc., all without success. Then I tried mouth taping and have zero large leaks and zero dry mouth. Some tapes remove skin when taken off in the morning. Silicone tapes seem not to do so, and I prefer them.
