Noobie Needs Help
I need help to figure out my sleep apnea therapy.
I have never had any medical advice at all from any doctor, clinic, hospital, sleep lab, nothing.
My primary care physician does not even mention or ask about my sleep apnea.
I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own.
About me:
First sleep test:
Sept. 2007 diagnosed with SOSA, 110-120 events/hour, advised CPAP @ 12 cmh2O
2nd sleep test: sometime in 2010
CPAP @ 17 cmh2O
No further sleep test until March 2022 (which I consider that to be a total farce) lights out at 10:00 PM, at which point I laid awake for 2 hours, until they brought in a mask, about midnight, then they entered my room approximately every 90 minutes, saying that there was a mask leak, then lights on at about 6:00 AM.
They recommend Autoset @ 12 cmh2O - 20 cmh2O.
I am currently using a ResMed Air Sense 10. Purchased it online in October (after the Phillips recall)
I had it set for CPAP @ 17 cmh20, based off of the 2010 sleep test until 04/24/2022, at which time I switched it to AUTOSET @ 12 cmh20 to 20 cmh20
My numbers:
Since Oct. 2012
Days used 307/307
Avg. usage 7.9 hrs
AHI - 10.8
Total AI - 5.9
Central AI - 0.1
Also, I am needing help with Oscar!!

Re: Noobie Needs Help
You have the wrong machine chosen in your equipment profile.
The Elite won't do this setting
You were using fixed CPAP mode at 17 cm pressure....then changed to auto mode with the minimum of 12.
What were your AHI numbers in fixed cpap mode?
If so the bulk of the numbers represent the auto mode settings of 12 min and 20 max.
I suspect you need more minimum pressure than the 12 cm but would need to see the OSCAR detailed reports to be sure.
What kind of problem are you having with OSCAR?
The Elite won't do this setting
You may have chosen the Elite because you can't find the Airsense 10 AutoSet....look down in the R's...somehow or other it got stuck in the R's.

What were your AHI numbers in fixed cpap mode?
These above numbers are most likely 30 day averages from the machine screen. Is this the case?Iamstumped wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 12:03 amSince Oct. 2012

According to the My Air app, my numbers from 07/21 until today, are all over the place, from 0.2 events per hour, up to and including 45.0 events per hour, with the machine set on CPAP, starting at 12 cmh2O, until I ended up at 17 cmh2O. Which is the setting that the 2010 sleep study suggested I use
As far as OSCAR, just downloaded it yesterday. Trying to figure it out.
Tried to import info from an SD card that I had had inserted into my AS10, but nothing worked. then formatted the SD card and re-inserted it into my AS10.
Going to try to import info again, soon.

Re: Noobie Needs Help
You shouldn't have formatted the SD card. You just lost all the detailed graphs that your machine could give you.
All that is stored on the machine's internal memory are the summary numbers...no details.
Unless you happened to save all those files to your computer before you did the formatting....
So you will need to have the SD card in your cpap machine all night tonight to get the detailed files.
I don't know why you are having problems importing to OSCAR. Normally it will search your computer for the necessary files.

Re: Noobie Needs Help
The machine defaults to a 30 day average for the sleep report that you can see on the LCD screen unless you change the reporting parameters.
If you lose power or unplug the machine it will default back to the 30 day reporting if you have changed the parameters.

Explained in the manual linked to above.

Re: Noobie Needs Help
Yes, I do change the reporting parameters, almost every day as I look at daily, weekly, monthly averages of my numbers, as I have set up an EXCEL spreadsheet, to track my numbers, as I have been changing various settings on my machine. The machine defaults to a 30 day average for the sleep report that you can see on the LCD screen unless you change the reporting parameters.
I have never had an SD card in my machine, until last night. OSCAr did not recognize the SD card until after I had formatted it and had it in my machine all night. I hope that I have this set up the way that you like to have it set up.You shouldn't have formatted the SD card. You just lost all the detailed graphs that your machine could give you.

Re: Noobie Needs Help
Sorry for any confusion, but I may not have explained everything correctly.
Next screenshot will have the left side bar turned off.
I have been using a CPAP for 15 years, thought that I could figure things out on my own, but I am wrong, I realized that I need help from people that know more than I do. I originally created an account on this site in 2007, or 2008, but never took time to spend time on here to learn anything.

No...leave the side bar on the left showing as you did with this image. They way you presented it was perfect just like it was.
That stuff on the left we need.
Read this as it may explain some of what you are seeing on OSCAR (OSCAR is SleepyHead updated).
viewtopic/t88983/Pugsys-PointersSleepyH ... Hints.html
Last night's report is actually quite acceptable. That one little cluster at the beginning of the night is all you really had.
How long did it take you to go to sleep? Were you asleep when that cluster happened?
What position do you go to sleep in....on your side or on your back?
Your flow limitation graph is pretty active. How are you sleeping and feeling? Are you experiencing much nasal congestion at all?
I have an idea that might be worth trying to help with that cluster (better prevent it) and help reduce the FLs (as long as you aren't having nasal congestion).
Set the minimum to 14 and add in EPR set to full time and set to 3 and see how it feels and how you sleep....this is assuming you aren't having nasal congestion. You can leave the max at 20.

Re: Noobie Needs Help
Q1, anywhere from 20-30 minutes, sometimes longer.
Q2, not that I'm aware of.
Q3, mostly on my back, if I'm not sleeping good then I toss and turn.
Q4, not good and feel tired most days.
Q5, no, not much nasal congestion, that is why I use a full face mask. Sometimes I do have nasal congestion when I first go to bed.
I've never had much of a problem with exhalation, even when I had my machine set to CPAP @ 17cmh2O, but I will turn on EPR and set it to full time L3
I have been toying with the idea of re-setting my machine to 14 cmh2O - 20 cmh2O.
I will re-set min. press to 14 cmh2O on Sunday before going to bed.
I know that these numbers do not show up in OSCAR, but I have an Excel spreadsheet that I have been keeping track of this info.
In the last 4 weeks, 95% press was: 13 - 14 cmh2O x3, 14-15 cmh2Ox4, 15-16 cmh2O x6, 16-17 cmh2O x6, 17-18 cmh2O x3, 18+ cmh2O x1 maybe.
AHI has been running in the 1.5 to 6.8 range.
Total AI's are running 0.2 - 5.4
Central AI's 0.1 - 0.3

Last time I tried to export summary data from OSCAR to csv. my imported Excel spreadsheet had the following headings:Iamstumped wrote: ↑Fri May 20, 2022 11:19 pmI know that these numbers do not show up in OSCAR, but I have an Excel spreadsheet that I have been keeping track of this info.

What happened that first hour (or a little more) last night where things are really ugly?
Awake and messing with mask to fix leaks maybe?
When do you think you actually went to sleep????
Same question for the around 10:30 beginning ugliness?
