List of CPAP companies for UHC

Post by kampercatt » Thu Apr 21, 2022 1:00 pm

I'm new here and read several posts abvout not finding companies with machines that United Health Care uses. I just got a list from UHC and wanted to share, hope it helps. The list is short and some only rent and you can't purchase, ask questions:
You may order for a new CPAP machine to the following vendors listed below.
1. Adapthealth LLC - www.adapthealth.com / 844-727-6667
2. Apria Healthcare - www.apria.com / 800-277-4288
3. Lincare - www.lincare.com / 727-530-7700
4. PHM Logistics, LLC - www.quipthomemedical.com / 859-441-8876
5. Rotech - www.rotech.com / 877-254-1725

I have United Health Care and I used Verus Healthcare when I got my machine two years ago. I also get my supplies from them. I get a email from them telling me what supplies I'm entitled to (thru Medicare), and then I decide what I actually need. No problems with them at all.

Thank you.

Verus is not on kampercatt's list. This is why I always recommend individuals contact their insurance company directly and not depend on internet posts such as kampercatt's.

There are most likely hundreds of other smaller companies that accept UHC. My mom & pop DME is in network with UHC as is a couple other local shops.

Depends on which uhc plan you have. There are different doctors and dme's for different plans. I have uhc and they are awful ! Does anyone have Ambetter ? Thinking I will switch next year.

A lot depends on where you live, as not all plans are available in all locations.
And they do not tell you that upfront.

In my area, UHC is wonderful. They always pay all my claims quickly. I had three major surgeries and lots of drugs. My co-pay was $15 ($5 each time). I called and said I was temporarily short on funds. They were so pleasant. They waived the co-pays and waived my premiums for six months! All my doctors said they love working with UHC. When I need CPAP equipment, UHC sends me a check in advance which I forward to my favorite internet supplier (cpap.com). When my Respironics machine was recalled, I called UHC. Two days later I had two new ResMed AutoSet machines - one for backup. No co-pays!

I was looking for my hip waders the crap was so high.

Last year my husband had to have neck surgery and we of course got everything pre authorized.
"Sure...get the surgery...no problem."...they told us.
After the surgery....sorry, won't pay because the provider was out of network which was total bullshit as they had paid that same provider for all the procedures he had up to the surgery.
They eventually paid what they were supposed to pay but it took 8 months to get it all done.

My husband says there is a special place in hell for that company.
Nothing but a nightmare to deal with.

While I was working for the county, we had our union reject UHC.
They were just that bad.

Isn't it a little late for April fools jokes?
Not!
And there it is.

what a mistake they were. This was our first time buying off the marketplace and we listened to the insurance guys recommendation. That won't happen again.

And why should they be the only ones allowed unlimited prevarication?

Kampercatt, it was nice of you to share this list that works for your plan. But . . .

Most insurers, UHC included, have many different plans depending on whether it's provided by an employer, tiers of ACA plans and Medicare supplement plans, geographic location, etc. Each plan may have different providers. Then there are plans like PPO's, HMO's, catastrophic coverage plans, and induvial insurance plans, all under the UHC umbrella.

For that reason, it's vitally important to understand YOUR plan. There is a contract between you and the provider, that you've never seen unless you knew to ask for it. It is called an "Evidence of Coverage" (EOC). The EOC spells out the exact details of the plan you have, what's covered and how much your insurer will pay, whether balanced billing is permitted, what's excluded, whether you must use "preferred providers" and what happens if you use out of network providers, etc. And every year the plan may change, so even if you saw the EOC for last year, it's no guarantee that it's the same this year.
