New CPAP/Mask But Feeling Tired

Post by kolinkorr839 » Wed Apr 06, 2022 5:14 pm

I have been using Resmed Airsense 10 and F&P Flexifit 405 nasal mask for almost 5 years now. Then last week I got a new Resmed Airsense 11 and F&P Eson 2 nasal mask. But for some reason, I feel tired after using the new CPAP/mask combo even though the data seems fine for the new CPAP/mask.

Here is what the 2 masks https://imgur.com/a/RZY5vLv look like (note that both are nasal masks) so I don't think it would make a difference.

Here is what the AHI https://imgur.com/a/fQ5E1HZ looks like for both devices and they look similar to each other as far as I can tell.

Note that I feel like the Eson 2 mask doesn't 'push' air but it definitely does. Also, one thing I noticed is that because of the diffuser, the mask is so quiet now. My old mask gave an 'air sound' so I am thinking to remove it just to mimic my old mask? Has anyone done it? I know this is an optional accessory so I am pretty sure it should also be optional to use it.

One thing I noticed with Airsense 11 is that I am now using a 'warm tubing' which I have never used before but I read that it is beneficial so I don't think this should make a difference.

Anyway, has anyone experienced something like this feeling 'tired' after getting a new CPAP/mask combination even though the data shows everything is fine?

Download the 2nd Stickie top of the pg and follow how to post Oscar results here where experts can see what's up and advise on whatever looks off. I know you think the mask(s) are all the problem, but they may not be all of it.

What MODEL is your Airsense 11?
What model Airsense 10 were you using?
Are the settings the same?

Airsense 11 model is 39000
Airsense 10 model is 'Autoset'
The settings are the same for both.

Are you maybe waking more with the new mask and "fiddling" with it more because you perceive the air movement to be different in either sound or how it feels?

And yes...you can remove the diffuser if you wish. It's considered an optional accessory. The mask will be noisier with the diffuser gone.

Hmm... come to think of it, yes, I do wake up more... like I would pull the mask off (just to make sure there is air), or tap my head / check the straps are fit.

When we are waking more than usual it sends our overall sleep quality into the toilet.
We need the nice normal progression of sleep stages and the normal amount in each sleep stage to give our bodies the best chance for successful restorative sleep.
When we wake up often for any reason the sleep stage cycles get messed up because we have to continually restart the cycles and we end up not getting enough deep or REM stage sleep where the restorative powers of sleep tend to work the hardest.
