Want a newer version cpap
Hi. My name is Janet and I've had a resmed autoset II for about 9 years and I think I need an upgrade but not sure what to get. I currently don't use my cpap but my husband has been noticing that I stop breathing and he checs on me often. It's not comfortable and my mouth gets really dry when I use it. It doesn't have a humidifier and I've heard they're harder to clean. Can anyone give me advice on what to get. I do have insurance and hopefully I can get it covered.
Re: Want a newer version cpap
When did you last have a sleep study? And why don't you use your machine now? Your mouth will get dry for many reasons but if meds aren't responsible (and can be), and a full face mask didn't help, what about mask air leaks? I would suggest downloading Oscar - very comprehensive software - and posting here for interpretation, but if you aren't using Cpap at all - for how long now? and haven't had a real study in yrs, you should get a new one and go from there - and post those results in this thread (cover personal info) so we get an idea of what's what. A new machine may depend on results... plus what mask might be best then.
Re: Want a newer version cpap
I think this person is using an S8 model machine because AutoSet II is/was only found in the S8 models.
If that is the case then not compatible with OSCAR.
Most newer model machines have humidifiers built in now but you can always choose to not add water and/or use it.janetsinger19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:20 amHi. They aren't hard to clean though and they don't require a lot of cleaning anyway.
Using the humidifier might possibly help with the dry mouth.
As for machines to look at
ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet
ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet
All excellent machines and full data and OSCAR software compatible so you can monitor your therapy to see how effective it is. I wouldn't recommend any others.

Welcome! You can get help solving all those issues here. Keep the dialogue going in this one thread. You should lean on cpaptalk as your support group. Most people really need a support group for CPAP.janetsinger19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 12:20 am...

BTW, cleaning a humidifier can be difficult or easy. We can help you make it easy.

I am a type 1 diabetic for 51 years. I was 2 when I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. The sleep study is difficult for me to do because of my sugars, I haven't used the CPAP in a long time but it's sitting the table stand by my bed. Like I said, when I use it, I do sleep pretty well but I wake up throughout the night with a dry throat and mouth.

The humidifier on the new machine should help LOTS with the dryness issue.janetsinger19 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 4:26 pm... I do sleep pretty well but I wake up throughout the night with a dry throat and mouth.
