Recently diagnosed — looking for advice

Post by prevostroland97 » Wed Mar 02, 2022 7:17 am

Hi,
I recently had sleep study done. Results showed AHI of 7.5.
Recommendation is that I get a APAP 5-15cm.

I don’t think my apnea is very severe — Analysis demonstrated 25 obstructive apneas, 0 mixed apneas, 0 central apneas, and 32 hypopneas. An overall total of 57 respiratory events.

I have been reading about lots of diffferent machines, including ones by Phillips that have been recalled. Gee, that’s encouraging. (Heavy sarcasm.)

I would appreciate recommendations for machines if anyone would like to provide.

The sleep study was expensive and I don’t want it to have been a waste of money, but I am apprehensive about where to start.

Suggestions?

Many thanks,

1st choice - ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet or ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
  • Great machine, heavily supported, proven, a favorite here.
2nd choice - ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet
  • Released less than a year ago, unproven but no red flags regarding quality, supply chain problems getting supplies and accessories
Distant 3rd - Everything else Auto-titrated and supported by OSCAR (except DS2)

Don't even consider - Devices not supported by OSCAR, or non-Auto machines.
I wouldn't consider a DS2, Philips deliberately encrypted the data, and while the OSCAR team has cracked the encryption, they are one update away from encrypting with a different algorithm or keys. Reputed to have build quality issues.
Battery Backup: EcoFlow Delta 2

Dog Slobber is absolutely right. I had the now recalled Dreamstation and have replaced it with a ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset For Her machine. I like it so very much better. I will someday receive from Philips a replacement Dreamstation 2, which I will keep for backup, but which I sincerely hope I will never need to use.
Machine: Resmed AirSense 10 Autoset For Her
Mask: Bleep Dreamport mask system

Ditto re preferred machines. And if/when you get one, please come back if you'd like any help as you start to use it.
