When my first machine did not provide data I talked my doc into ordering a loaner machine to collect data for 2 weeks. Is that a possibility? Continuing in failure is a tough row to hoe, and beyond discouraging. I'm thinking your energies would be better invested in finding a way to get concrete info rather than trial and error. Soon after my trial period I bought a used data capable machine from a trusted member on here. If there is nothing you can do along these lines, I apologize for adding an extra pressure to your frustrations.
In general, there's some often shared tips shared on here for mitigating common problems. First is some kind of cervical collar. I use one of those c-shaped travel pillows turned backwards to keep my chin up when sleeping in the recliner. If my head drops too far either forward or backward my airway gets compromised. Also, when lying down I try to be conscious of positioning myself in a way that gravity doesn't sabotage my efforts. I side sleep on a firm flat pillow. This way my chin doesn't drop and cause loss of air through my mouth. Sleeping with my face slightly off the edge of the pillow causes it to tilt downward slightly as the edge of the pillow compresses a bit - just enough for my tongue to drop forward when relaxing instead of into the airway space. The single best tip I learned here was to train my tongue to stay forward and suction sealed to the roof of my mouth. Took months of diligent practice and a few hickeys on the roof of my mouth from sucking too hard
Your description of not getting enough air makes me wonder if you are experiencing hypopneas, a partial compromise of air flow, but short of an apnea. Maybe some of the above tips could help if that's the case. My journey early on was quite awful. It's been no big deal for well over 10 years now. Good luck with figuring things out.
