Resmed Events vs AHI

Post by SleepDeep » Wed Feb 02, 2022 12:14 am

My ResMed S10 Auto is displaying 1.0 Events with a 1.8 AHI. That would seem impossible since the AHI is included in the event count and they are both calculated as an hourly number. Am I missing something?

First, there's no such thing as a Resmed S10. What does it actually say on the machine?

Second, that's not at all impossible, since that AHI is an average over a period of time.

I don't recall seeing an event count displayed on the machine itself. Where are you seeing it, and what exactly does it say?

Sorry to introduce some confusion with my typo.
The machine in an Airsense 10 Auto

Yes I understand the AHI is an average, but wouldn't the Events per hour, of which AHI is an included event be an average as well? That is why I dont see how the Events per hour can be less than the AHI. Should be greater than or equal to.

As I indicated, I had 1.0 Events per hour and 1.8 AHI.

Miss Emerita, Events per Hour is the second line of the sleep report display.

Which sleep report display?
The one from just last night or the one that has the default parameter of 30 days for the data reporting?

There is a sleep report just from last night and there is a sleep report with the default 30 day/one month average (can be changed to 1 day, 1 week and maybe something else but defaults back to one month if there is any sort of power disruption).

If it is the 30 day report...then the overall average could very well be different and would explain the obvious difference.

That was the problem. I had it set to daily reporting cycles, then I unplugged the unit when cleaning it. So it re-set to a 30 day number. Sure confused me. Thanks.

Any little power disruption will cause the re-set to the default.
Even a quick brown out...so just remember that if things start looking weird. Could happen when you aren't at home and wouldn't realize it.

Thanks. Bad design. Odd since other settings are permanently saved.

Well....at least the pressure changes and other settings hold/stick with a power outage. As far as I know the default to a month for that data is all that changes.
I used to worry about it but now all I look at is the sleep report on the main screen that just shows AHI from last night and I don't ever go into that second deeper area anyway...so I don't bother changing it from the one month. We get brown outs quite often where I live and it was driving me crazy.

If I want to see more than what is available on the initial sleep report I just use OSCAR software anyway.
