Resmed Airsense 10 foam breaking apart?

I use a Resmed Airsense 10 without a humidifier, so the side cover is just an air pocket with some foam inside. I was cleaning this portion earlier and I noticed some small black specks inside the air chamber, and then one speck inside the air tube itself. I consulted them and they told me that the foam is still safe and I just shouldn't open that container anymore.

I was wondering if anyone's had experience with this or know if that foam is perfectly safe? Since I'm breathing it in everyday I'd rather err on the side of caution and just remove the foam, but wondering if it's only for noise management or some other purpose. It's a little concerning they just said the foam is okay even if there's specks of it on the air tube but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

As answered on Reddit, Resmed foam doesn't dissolve unless one has been foolish and used an ozone device.

So I'm not saying the foam is dissolving. I'm saying there are little bits of foam I see sticking to the silicon seal and stuff. I asked resmed support and they acknowledged that it's from the foam block. I was asking more if the cpap can be used without it.

I hope that is not what you meant. Even mother's milk is not "perfectly safe".

If the foam isn't dissolving, then you're not getting bits of that foam somewhere else.

And yes, you can disassemble the machine and plate and remove any foam.

I don't use my humidifier, but I have the empty humidifier chamber attached. No foam.

And contained within that cover is some foam?

Resmed told you shouldn't open that foam container; upthread you were told "you can disassemble the machine and plate and remove any foam".

Your choice.

If I angle a light just right to look into my Aircurve 10's side cover, I do see some kind of material that looks like it could be a bit of foam. I don't see any loose specs in mine, but I don't actually run air through it, either. I just put the side cover in place to cover the side up when I have my humidifier out drying so I don't have a spider or something crawl in there.

I suppose you could put a humidifier tank in there, turn your humidifier off, and run it with an empty tank. Or you could try using some humidification. I can't see getting by without it.
