Snoring on CPAP?
Snoring on CPAP?
I've been on CPAP for several years now.
I was able to dial in my therapy using OSCAR and the help of this forum.
Generally my AHI's are less than 1. Usually .5 or less most nights.
I don't recall seeing any significant snore data when I used Oscar, which admittedly was some time ago.
My question, is recently my wife complains that I am snoring, but sometimes she seems to see/hear things at night, that may be her dreaming.
Generally can you snore while using a full face mask that is properly fitted?

If your pressure isn't sufficient and/or if you don't clean out any nasal congestion before going to bed.

Re: Snoring on CPAP?
Pressure shouldn't be an issue. Min 8, Max 20. Avg is usually about 11.
Nasal congestion is a possibility. I have pretty bad allergies. Lots of post nasal drip, but usually not congestion per se. Nose is mostly clear.

Re: Snoring on CPAP?
Nonsense. You contradict yourself with that statement.
Look at your reports and see at what pressures your snoring occurs.
Snoring is one of the primary triggers for pressure increases......the other is Flow Limitations.
Either your snoring isn't really an issue (seems like your pressures would be pushed much higher) or your minimum pressure is too low.
If it was me, I'd be increasing my minimum pressure to 11 or 12 cms. and see what that does for your therapy.

Re: Snoring on CPAP?
Actually my MIN was 9.0. I haven't changed them since 2019 when I had folks here look at my OSCAR charts.
I changed the MIN to 10.0, to see if that seems to make any difference.
When I find my SD card, I will run data for a few weeks, and take a look at the graphs.
There was very little snore back in 2019.

If you're snoring, then your pressure is too low. it's that simple.

Re: Snoring on CPAP?
IF... I am snoring. I'm not sure that I am. My wife has reported that, but sometimes she makes observations at night that seem not to be correct.
For example... she will say that I am kicking and tossing and turning... yet I wake up in the exact same position as I fell asleep, including have a cat sleeping on my legs. In that example, it would seem that she may be dreaming or something. It's also possible that I could snore if my mask loses position and leaks.
Once I locate my SD, I will collect date for a few weeks, and see what I find. My original question, was more along the lines of is it normal to snore during CPAP use, and based on some more research, the answer to that is no.

I'll put it like this, *every* 'auto' machine on the market will increase pressure when it detects snoring.jsmit86 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:06 pmOnce I locate my SD, I will collect date for a few weeks, and see what I find. Re: Snoring on CPAP?
Might be worth making an audio recording of the night, if you are able to do it. If you’re not snoring, an audio recording might be more persuasive to your wife than an Oscar chart.
