I bought and have been taking some Glycine before bed. It has definitely improved my sleep, and from what I have read (due to this thread) it has other health benefits as well. Last night I slept for 10 hours, and woke up feeling great!
A question for you. I always fall asleep quickly and sleep soundly. My problem is waking after about five hours and having trouble falling asleep again. Was your problem anything like that?

Yes. I actually have taken Trazodone to help me sleep for years. But even that is not quite enough. I would often wake early and simply could not go back to sleep. Adding Glycine has helped me sleep longer and more deeply. I am quite happy with the result I am getting.

Thanks, that's good to hear.

Last night, I slept 7 hours straight through without any awakenings. I feel well-rested this morning.

Just thinking about glycine helps me sleep!

Wish just thinking about it worked for me...I had one of your 5 1/2 hours of sleep nights last night and couldn't go back to sleep. This is frustratingly common for me because I feel like crap when I don't get the hours of sleep my body needs.
Now I know some of my problem is pain related but I am willing to try anything to get more hours of sleep.
If I go to WallyWorld today I will see if they have some of this glycine stuff and give it a try. Will report back if I do.
Later this week I am scheduled for the spinal cord stimulator trial thing...so that is also on my list of experiments.

Pugsy, do try it. It may even help you sleep through your pain. You want the 1000mg per capsule version. Three of the capsules should surely help.

Was in the plan...hubby making a trip to wallyworld so I checked to see if the crappy little wallyworld near us had it in stock.....none that I can find at least online. Just in case though he has it on his list.
First thing he said was "okay, glycerine"...and I told him to watch the spelling.
Anyone wanna bet against me that likely he comes back with some sort of glycerine product.

 No one's going to bet against you on that one!

I got mine from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KLCZTY7?ps ... ct_details I take just one capsule since I also take Trazodone. Most would take three.

Well it's in my Amazon cart right now and I need to add a few other items so I can get it later this week.
I won't be trying it while I am doing the trial with the spinal cord stimulator which is Thursday through Monday because I don't want to add another variable in any experiments.
So I don't know if I will be able to do much of an experiment until sometime after next Monday ..the 3rd.
I need to first see how I do with the SCS trial and then without it and then I can add the glycine.

I got mine at Amazon too. I started with 3000 and just went up to 4000. Apparently 3000-5000 is OK. Nothing miraculous is happening, but my first sleep cycle is a little longer, and I'm not waking up after my first REM period.

I'm curious whether it takes a while to work optimally, or whether what I'm seeing is what I'll be getting. Anyone know?

And I'm also curious to know the answer to Zonker's question about timing. Just because it's a lot of big pills to take, I'm downing 2 about an hour before bed, then 2 more just before bed.

(And that's on top of a calcium pill, a magnesium pill, and a Singulair pill!)

OMG...they/glycine are BIG pills?????...crap...add in a massive potassium pill to mine. I hate that damn pill. It gets stuck all the time.
And yes, I know I could cut them in half but I am a lazy sot.

You can buy it as a powder, Pugsy, though I don't know what it tastes like! Very best wishes for the upcoming procedure. My fingers are crossed for you.
