Because.... why? I'm still interested in getting this. In fact, I just got the letter from my doctor in the mail on Friday. I figured that since I had mentioned that I was going to check with my insurance, that I should also mention that they said they didn't pay for it.

I think that wearing a bracelent/necklace/etc. is a good idea since when I take the dogs walking or sometimes even when DH and I go to "town" (Fargo), I don't bring my purse (with the insurance card in my wallet). Wearing something that is always there certainly is a good idea. I also came across stainless tags that you can put on your shoes (through your shoelaces).

On a side note, you can also get a bracelet or necklace with your membership when you join the American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA). I just sent in my membership on Friday.

I did just check that out. I think I like the way MedicAlert.org works... you can register multiple health issues (if you have them) plus they have "family notification" and you can also register any medications and dosages. (I also like the various choices for the necklaces/bracelets.)

So do I. Plus with Medic Alert, I can have my records accessed when I travel anywhere and--heaven forbid--something should happen. All it takes is calling in the ID number on my bracelet to the 800 number and my records come up. I love their concept.

We're going to Mexico (south of Cancun) in March and I'm thinking this would be a very good idea. Granted, I'm hoping that nothing happens, but you never know. I am allergic to shellfish (read: cheap date! No lobster, crab or shrimp for me.) among other things. Dang, I was just filling out my health stuff and it sure seems like this would be a good thing to have. (Plus I can add my insurance info as well -- one call and the professionals can access everything.)

Anyhow, I'm glad the info was posted about the MedicAlert stuff because I don't think is something I would have even thought about.

I have the Medic Alert dog tag style necklace which allows quite a bit of information to be etched onto it. I think that some of the smaller tags hold less information.

Excellent idea regarding the Medical ID bracelets. Does anyone have a good site to go and get one? Preferable sterling silver. I have allergies to the fake stuff.

I also suffer from schizoaffective disorder, which is a diagnosis I should also wear on my wrist. since I take a LOT of medication for it.
