SleepQ+ Lip Gel Review

Post by scf » Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:07 am

I have no connection with this company or any company. I found it surfing the web for an alternative to taping that was not working for me. I paid for the product.

I thought I would have to use this a few nights to give a valid review. However, it took only one night to realize that I have found a product that does exactly what it says it does. SleepQ+ is a lip gel created in Australia and manufactured in the US. It comes in a small tube that costs $38. The tube says you can get 60 applications…. 0.63 cents per use. To use it you wet your lips, squeeze a line of the gel on the middle of your bottom lip. You then close your mouth squeezing the gel so it seals. There is supposed to be only a small amount showing through your lips. You do not press that hard. The gel sets in 10 mins and you are good to go. There is a video showing how to use the product on their web site. I am new here so I have not figured out how to attach photos or links. The seal of the lips is very secure and comfortable.

The incredible attribute about this product is being able to loosen it and then press your lips together to seal it again. Last night I did this three times. The third time it was just as secure as the first time! To loosen it you simply put your tongue in the corner of your mouth and slide it across. Viola! It is done. It does not pull or hurt. By morning the gel had spread out to the corners of my mouth which was not a problem for me. The small gaps on the sides allowed a tiny bit of air to come through if I breathed hard. Supposedly you can still talk but I did not try that.

To remove it you use a warm washcloth and gently wipe it off.

Cons: it is pricy.

Summary: This is an amazing product that solved my occasional open mouth breathing. I am not sure how well it would work if you are a true aggressive mouth breather. Maybe someone will try it let us know.

For me SleepQ+ worked as advertised and I will continue to use it despite the cost. I use a nasal pillow which is so comfortable and I did not want to go to a full mask simply because I open my mouth 2-3 times during the night.

Links are easy...images a little more work.

For links just go to the website you want to share and up in the url address line copy the address (with my mouse it is a right click that gives me the copy option) the you paste it in the reply box here where you are composing your text.

https://sleepqplus.com/

Images are more work.....take a screenshot...save it where you can easily navigate to the file...use attachment feature that is part of the forum editor and upload.
Make sure the file size to be uploaded is less than 1 MB because there is a file size limit on uploads.

Sorry I made a new thread. I am part of another web site group and we always do a new one for a review. Thank you for the help on uploading links!!!

I don't mind the new thread. Not that big of a deal to me.
Now if you did a dozen new threads like some people...then I get annoyed.
To be honest I hadn't been following the first thread but I did take the time to read the official review. I figure I am probably not the only one.

Now as to others thoughts....I can't control those thoughts but a little common sense goes a long way IMHO.
I actually like full reviews separate because they are more on topic than 2 or 3 pages of back and forth chit chat that isn't particularly helpful.

That was sort of my thinking that it might get read if I said it was a product review.

i did something that i don't normally do. that is, i actually put my hand into my pocket and bought this product.

so thought i'd pass on a bit of a "review" on it. the "tl;dr" on it is that it works! it does exactly what it says on the tin, which i think is fairly rare these days.

being a man, i of course didn't read the instructions before applying the gel. the first night, i used too little and it didn't work at all except for small portions of my lips. on the second night, i corrected and got the proper "bead" on my bottom lip. it held all night.

well, that's the short version for those who want the facts and just the facts. if you want to read more, i'll blither on for a bit more below this.

============================================

i don't like this product. i don't like the cost. i also don't like how i'm told that i can get "up to 60 applications per tube" according to their website. science fiction author spider robinson says "there is always more toothpaste in the tube. always." it's tongue in cheek but i agree with him. and i don't see what criteria the advertizing people are using to see 60 applications. too many variables.

but mainly, i don't like the gel because it doesn't do the job as well as the scunci rig i keep going on about. here, let me show you a pic for illustration. (after you remove any small children or pets that may be looking on.)

Image

all right. what the pic doesn't show is that i wear this rig and use the p10 nasal mask. the scunci band up under my nose? that actually helps keep the p10 in the best position for me. with nothing there to hold it, it's a bit unstable and takes some time to get it more solidly in place. i did find that wearing the small band(the teeny one that's colored red in the pic) help keep the p10 more or less in place.

the scunci bands also help keep my lips pressed against my teeth. this helps a lot in keeping air from inflating the front of my mouth. i didn't get full blown chipmunk cheeks using the gell only but i did get a slight inflation of the lips.

i didn't sleep well using the lip gel over the last two nights. i'm not talking about ahi, because i'd be foolish to compare it with my regular night's sleep. i just mean i woke up a lot. and that could just be me trying to get used to something new.

anyway, i'm uncertain that i'll recommend this. though it prolly would work better for full face mask users.

i think i'm going to stick to the scunci for now.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Your review is a prime example of what I say about experiments.
We always learn something .....sometimes it may be that we love or hate something but sometimes we learn more about our own wants and needs which can help us in deciding what future experiments we might want to make.

And not everyone will have the same wants and needs.
I want as little on my face and head as possible. I learned this a long time ago.
I hate ANYTHING touching the bridge of my nose area so I long ago gave up experimenting with any mask that touched the bridge of my nose area. Simply not going to happen.

The get up you use...ain't no way in hell that I could sleep with all that on my face/head.
But for others it works well and that's great. Whatever it takes to get good sleep is fair game....and IMHO cost be damned.
My sleep is already fragile and anything that I can do to make it less fragile I will happily pay if it works and suits my needs and fixes a problem.

We always learn something so that means that all experiments have value......even the "failures".
We learned what not to do.

yup. as i like to say "what works for thee may not work for me. and vice versa."

i well remember from my first year on the forum. i mentioned that i like to sleep at 64 degrees f. chunkyfrog was appalled that anyone could sleep at a temperature so low!

I liked the function of Poli grip strips between my lips.
That is, until I woke to discover one had migrated
halfway across my face toward my ear.
Like a snail, it left a trail . . .

Scf, thanks for the product review. The product was new to me. I am doing fine with adhesive strips, but it's good to know there's an alternative.

I'm pretty sure I would have noisy mouth leaks out of the sides of my mouth with the gel stopping so far short of the corners. Do you have any thoughts about that?

I had the same thing happen. So I put it all the way across my mouth. I still had no problem getting it to loosen when I needed to get a drink of water. Unfortunately despite the fact that my mouth was totally sealed all night, my ahi’s would not go below 8-9? After 16 days of fighting the P10, I gave up and got the F30i. And thanks be to God I am tolerating this more restrictive equipment very well except for skin irritation. I just received a PadaCheek liner today, so I expect tonight to be quite pleasant. I hope this helps yiu. Good luck.
