I see that you mentioned double taping, with what kind of tape? What is polident and how is it used?
As Chicago Granny correctly pointed out I meant Poligrip. I use the original formula (not Super) as it is zinc-free. I’ve tried the squeeze tube cream, but find it messier (gets on my teeth, and takes longer to wipe off my lips). So I bought a packet of strips, and use about 1.5 strips on my lips. I don’t wet them, as licking my lips works and my drool in the night continues the process of moistening the material. When I use the denture strips along with tape I don’t get leaks.
I have used various tapes. Yes, I have some sore areas from the 3M micropore tape, and I also find it doesn’t hold up to drool. When I double tape with that I overlap - one strip horizontally across my pursed lips, then another from the line where the two lips come together and going lower. Sometimes with vertical strips at the corners of my mouth. All with folded over ends, so I can pull off easily.
Now, I’m using an athletic “KT” style tape (different name brand I can’t remember). Again I fold over the top corners to provide a pull tap for removal. It is porous, more than the 3M, so I usually put a piece of blue painters tape over that. Low to no leaks. If I combine that with the Poligrip strips on my lips there are absolutely zero leaks. If I wanted to allow just slight lip leaks, I would use the “KT” tape only (it allows air through, but not at the “large leak” warning level - I am experimenting if this is useful for my expiratory Palatal Prolapse issue.
